Fox News, Fox Business Channels Go Dark On Dish As Carriage Talks Stall
DEADLINE | HOLLYWOOD ^ | December 20, 2014 10:03pm | Lisa de Moraes

21st Century Fox and Dish pointed the finger at each other tonight as carriage talks between the two failed to produce a deal by midnight, resulting in Fox News Channel and Fox Business Channel no longer being available on Dish. Both sides blamed the other for the shutdowns.

“It is disappointing that, after nearly two decades without a blackout, Fox News Channel has been blocked by Dish Network,” Tim Carry, EVP Distribution at Fox News Channel said late tonight. “We care deeply about our viewers and hope that they will regain access to the number one cable news channel soon. We will continue to work around the clock to reach an agreement with Dish, as we have done with every other pay-TV provider for 18 years. This is the third time in as many months that Dish customers have suffered through a blackout due toDish intransigence. Dish’s record speaks for itself, and makes its rhetoric about ‘reasonable’ agreements ring hollow.”

Searched, and did not see this posted yet. There have been some questions raised here about why the normal satfeeds for Fox News Channel are instead streaming The Blaze. Problem is between Dish and Fox carrier agreement, each blaming the other.

As a Dish customer I will not miss RoveNetwork one bit. I haven’t watched them for over 2 years and I find TheBlaze to be much more entertaining. That said, Fox did pick the right time of year to take the fight to Dish. Most of the regular hosts on TheBlaze are on vacation from today through Jan 5, so the quality will be down right now....

Message now appearing on my Dish TV Guide:

FOX REMOVED THIS CHANNEL

Note: My son works for dish, told me when this happens to call and complain. They will then offer (if you make a stink) some freebies or a lower rate.

Granted, there are some things I wish FNC would stop doing, but then again the other networks are even worse. The Five is quite good, and I sometimes catch Outnumbered now and again. I think Greg Gutfeld is hilarious when he subs for O’Reilly, and his ‘Gregalogs’ on The Five are really funny, not to mention his hilarious cracks and one-liners that you have to experience to appreciate -and every day, as well. Truly sharp wit, he has.

Shep I can do without, Andrea Tanteros and Kimberly Guilfoyle are some toothsome lasses, as is Anna Kooiman, and Megyn Kelly has a sharp mind as well as being attractive as well. Bill O’Reilly at least has some worthwhile topics to talk about now and again, as does Sean Hannity sometimes, but Hannity I can’t watch too often because he keeps putting on that trashy skank Tamarra Jakson-Holder (name intentionally misspelled), the ex-mistress of J. Jakson the race-pimp.

They are the best, however, when I need live news without liberal spin or commentary, plus I recall they refused to go along with the all-flight-370 all-the-time for a week straight, and I would never have heard of David Michael Lynch if not for them, so all in all I need quite strongly to have some sort of way of viewing them when necessary.

YMMV.

Two decades my rearend.Dish and Fox had a reimbursement issue this decade and I recall it vividly since it was dropped from my viewing for about three weeks.

It angers me that fox is charging top dollar to rebroadcast its programming, but at the same time it’s ratings allow them to get away with it since their programming is heads and tails above the rest of the cable news outlets.

We have been Dish Newtwork subscribers for years. Fox News was the ONLY news channel we would even bother to watch.

I assume conservative viewers like ourselves also avoided the other “liberal” news networks and chose Fox News as their “go to” channel, consequently perhaps DISH is wanting more money from Fox due to its popularity.

We will give Dish Network one (1) month to iron their contract out with Fox, after that time, assuming no Fox News, we will be dropping Dish Network all together.

I did call to complain. I like to watch FOX before I go to work. I was never offered any freebies or a lower rate.( I really don’t want any, just want to get FOX back). I did threaten to go to Direct TV if the programming isn’t restored.

The gentleman I spoke with did say that the Blaze was similar, however after watching it I can say that it isn’t at all like Fox News.

Dish just became a no-go in my home. (I’m not a customer now, but I have been looking at other providers. Dish was one of them.)

I have options. They executed theirs and I will execute mine.

Fox is not perfect. It’s far from it. There are however some shows that reflect my opinion better than any other network.

I agree. Blaze is not similar to Fox. When CNN was blacked out, Dish also replaced it with Blaze. I am thinking of switching.

I’m getting tired of this BS with DISH. I’m thinking of switching to Direct TV for the first time ever after many years with DISH.

I just hoisted my off-the-air outdoor broadcast antenna another five feet into the air. It was 6 feet off the ground, it’s now 11.

Blaze is a moronic Glen Beck Entertainment network but does have only one decent show on for adults, Dana likes her guns and I like her buns. Glen has made a turn politically that I cannot figure out.

The Blaze website is likewise, full of gobbledygook and useless junk.

Dave, i agree. i called dish this morning to see what the switching cost would be, basically zero, been with dish 13 years, but if they don't get fox back on soon, i am gone.
been wondering what life would be like without cable. a lot of the shows we watch are available on HBOgo and netflix now. i would miss football and fox, but thats it. my dish bill was up to $150/month which is stupid, so maybe just turf the whole thing and go internet.

in any event, seems like a dumb move on dish part, now all the customers are thinking about switching, not what you want your customer base to do.

Not to worry! Us DISH subscribers still have Al Jazeera, Russia Today, China News and Glen Beck.

If one looks at facts they will find that Dish owner is a tight wad and hated by his own employees. Dish is perhaps the worse place to work. The owner gives to Obama and to a Comcast PAC that also donates to Obama. Yes he gave some to Romney, but; most goes to Obama and his kind. I fired Dish today and went with ATT Uverse U300.I refuse to put up with this cheap bas. plus his whining CEO with his fake southern You’all.I refuse to pay good money to hear anyone’s excuses and I refuse to watch brownshirt news stations

Direct TV informed me this morning that it would be after the first of the year before they could get to me. I may just go to antenna and say to heck with satellite altogether. But Dish did give me $15.00 a month credit for 3 months. And then what if Direct pulls the same thing after a bunch of people switch over to them and are hooked into a 2 year contract?

Been with DirecTV for nearly 15 years and have never once had a problem (other than cleaning the snow off the dish after a heavy storm).
