The police union for the New York Police department issued the following statement earlier today.

FROM NYC PBA: Starting IMMEDIATELY- At least two units are to respond to EVERY call, no matter the condition or severity, no matter what type of job is pending, or what the opinion of the patrol supervisor happens to be. IN ADDITION: Absolutely NO enforcement action in the form of arrests and or summonses is to be taken unless absolutely necessary and an individual MUST be placed under arrest. These are precautions that were taken in the 1970’s when Police Officers were ambushed and executed on a regular basis. The mayors hands are literally dripping with our blood because of his words actions and policies and we have, for the first time in a number of years, become a “wartime” police department. We will act accordingly. FORWARD MESSAGE IN ITS ENTIRETY TO ANY AND ALL MOS

I lived in New Jersey and grew up in the South. You can imagine a redneck going to NYC and seeing all of the peep shows and adult shops on 42nd St. There was also a street not far from there that the prostitutes would walk up and down dressed in lingerie type clothes. When we had friends we would always take them on tours to NYC and those areas were always on the tour route :)
It was funny, because we would drive down the streets where the prostitutes were walking and we would tell our friends don't roll down your windows. Some of them were even scared to look. Thanks for the walk down memory lane...

I was the ‘go to guy’ in my little Connecticut town, for people who wanted to visit NYC, since I knew my way around. One co worker wanted to catch an exhibit at The Whitney Museum. Art wasn’t really my thing, but we went, and it was actually an enjoyable experience. He floored me when he requested to go to Times Sq., and catch some peep shows.

I reluctantly agreed, with the caveat that I would wait outside (never had been to one). After a few shows, I got tired of waiting outside, and went in, to the third place we stopped at. First, I got yelled at for not pulling the curtain shut, in the booth, then, when I exited, some little old man with a mop, wheeled in a pail full of Lysol and hot water, presumably to clean up.

I am no prude, but I was so disgusted, I took the other guy outside, pointed out a landmark, and told him he had another two hours, but if he didn’t meet me there, he could figure out how to get back to Grand Central, on his own.

I also remember my first trip down 8th Av. at night, the hookers would come up and grab your privates, asking if you wanted a date.

It astounds me that NYC is sliding back into the morass. Someone explained that the majority of NYers have no living memory of “the bad old days”. Too bad that they are about to get reeducated.

Yes, it Is ashamed NYers don’t appreciate how far they had come with Giuliani cleaning up the red light district. That area was scary and not safe. Even the Police would not go into some areas without a lot of back up.
I am afraid the new liberal leadership in NY will lead the city back to the days of old. The liberals do not respect the police and after the Officers were assassinated the liberal left have been celebrating; disgusting!

Indeed, a sad state of affairs. I recall in 2006 seeing all of the ‘normal’ people on the sidewalks. It won’t be long before the booming tourist business drops off, precipitously. Hoping that this negative trend reverses, it really pleased me to see a functional city.

We muddled along with Carter for four years, but the damage was repairable.

The ayatollahs of Iran might disagree with you.
