Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has officially become an Australian resident, is planning to make the Apple Isle his home appropriately enough and says one day hed like it said he lived and died an Australian. The man who formed Apple with Steve Jobs in California back in 1976 has just had permanent residency stamped in his passport.
He originally applied for Australian citizenship in 2012. Hes since taken steps to move more aspects of his life Down Under; in October he became an adjunct professor at the University of Technology in Sydney. He says hes thinking about a citizenship ceremony.
In a wide-ranging interview with The Australian Financial Review, Wozniak praised current Apple chief executive Tim Cook for breaking free from Steve Jobss dogma by allowing a big-screen iPhone to be made.
Wozniak says his decision to make Australia home came after he received an email from old friend, Sydney-based barrister Nicholas Baltinos, alerting him to the fact it could be a possibility.
With a son married to an Aussie and resident in Sydney, and a fondness for the local culture, Wozniak says he plunged into the lengthy series of visa applications, medicals and FBI checks before finally being accepted.

Yeah that caught my eye too but I assume since he spent most of his prior life in the US that would be the agency to check up on one’s history so to speak and not Australian agencies.

You have to have an FBI check to become a resident of another country? Australia has their own FBI. . .

Ive read that they check their shoes before putting them on. Seriously! > We have to do that here in Florida. Snakes, scorpions, black widow and brown recluse spiders...
Hell I have to check my shoes before putting them on, and I live in Upstate New York!!
(Of course, that's mainly because my cat might have puked in them overnight... remember Fat Freddie's headphones?)

Yep.
Almost all countries require a clean bill from the federal government of your citizenship

If you’re a criminal coming to America you don’t have to do any of that.

Its a criminal background check. Other countries dont want USA criminals moving into their country ... and ... its only the FBI who would give a comprehensive check (across the entire country). Ask Eddie about that.

You have to have an FBI check to become a resident of another country? For a work or permanent visa, many countries require a criminal background check from current (and previous) countries in which you have resided.
I had to get one for a work visa a few years ago.

Is your cat related to mine? I turn my shoes and slippers upside down so if she is going to puke it’s on the bottom, not inside.
I also put slippers on in the house because we are never quite sure where she has left her little gift. ;-)

The only problem with Australia is that every animal/insect there is poisonous and wants to kill you ,ouch Texas and Austrailia are kinda similar then. Yet another reason for me to like Aussies
