On Wednesday evening’s edition of “The O’Reilly Factor,” Bill O’Reilly spoke with Martin Luther King III, a human rights activist and Martin Luther King Jr.’s oldest son, who discussed victimhood in the black community and learning to overcome setbacks and achieve success. O’Reilly was, expectedly, thrilled.
“I don’t mind President Obama saying to LeBron James, ‘Look, I’m with you.’ And that’s what he did,” O’Reilly mused. “But he also has to provide some leadership in the sense of saying just what you said. Just exactly what you said. You know what, we fight the injustice and we realize it’s there, but we love our country, we applaud the progress we’ve made, and here is a pathway to success. You know, don’t abandon your children. Don’t get pregnant at 14. Don’t allow your neighborhoods to deteriorate into free fire zones. That’s what the African-American community should have on their T-shirts.”

Good for him, I’ve always liked the way he supports orgs like Wounded Warriors and Fisher House. I gave up watching him years ago, but then I just don’t watch TV much except for sports. News I get here.

There’s a really funny thing about “liberals” - they don’t think people change their behavior when gov’t incentives are introduced or removed.
You’re absolutely right; I believe that was a driving force bejind the 1996 welfare reform. The country could afford to have 10-15% of its population sit out life and get paid for it, but as the practice spread among whites something had to be done. It seemed to drop the black birthrate quickly, but the whites having golden-ticket welfare bastards seems to have only increased (probably because they are more likely to have a “father” on the hook for payments).
That’s right; the welfare hatcheries have become an industry unto themselves.
Imagine living in government housing with a herd of these welfare sows (and their bastards)...
Yes, though the problem is deeper than that. It's not just the failure to recognize reaction to government incentives: the left doesn't understand that economics is a dynamical system at all. Marx started it, imagining economics as statics, and thereby getting everything about it wrong.
The recipe for escaping poverty is well known and documented:
1. Finish school.
2. Get a job.
3. Get married.
4. THEN have children.
Doing these four things in this order makes it virtually impossible to remain in poverty in the United States.
Many start off with step 4, fail at step 1, resent the very idea of step 2, don’t even care about step 3.
Your post is wisdom.
But it will be scorned by progressives.

We’re at the point where some people i.e. liberals are thoroughly shocked at the idea that getting pregnant at an early age can be detrimental to future success. Also committing crimes, not studying hard in school, and not deferring all enjoyment might be detrimental. Shocking ideas for libs.
Who’s going to educate the Government first?

those % aren’t telling the real story. What you need is what % of whites, what % of blacks etc. The population % is even.
