A report into the botched execution of Clayton Lockett has revealed new grisly details of the moments leading up to his agonizing death.
According to the document, a doctor tried to insert an intravenous line into his groin in a frantic attempt to save him, but hit and burst an artery instead.
It caused blood to splatter over the doctor's jacket before the execution was officially stopped. Lockett's heart stopped beating moments later.
In the report, Oklahoma state prison warden Anita Trammell is quoted as saying that the procedure was a 'bloody mess'.

“Its time to stop trying for a pleasant death.”
The more “humane” and painless they try to make executions the worse they get, in the opinion of those who oppose executions. I can’t imagine it ever being pleasant. For efficiency and humane treatment for those in our society who have proven to be inhumane, we should go back to firing squads and hanging.
No Green Mile reference? I am disappointed.
Sorry—wasn’t thinking. I certainly could have look it up myself. Anyway—it’s a terrible story.
I have not watched that movie.

Someone here is a little unclear on the concept. Maybe it's just me, but I don't think so.
The execution is only botched if the sub-human defective unit is still alive.
No botched executions with firing squad........
Why burst a pipe when the pump (heart) is still active? Burst the pump and shut er down fast.
In a just world the monster would have been tortured his last few hours on earth then thrown to a pack of starving dogs....
From LINK:
“Clayton Lockett, the Oklahoma death row inmate who writhed and groaned during his execution Tuesday, a sentence he received for shooting and burying alive the 19-year-old young woman some 15 years ago.”
Stephanie was beat up, she was shot, she was thrown in a grave when she was still alive,
Why would anyone care about this monster? Are you a crazy liberal? Sitting in a prison? Nuts?
Isn’t it though.
Half of the squad aims for the head; the other half for the heart. Fire simultaneously, done in 1500 ms.
Put the “bloody mess” to good use. Put the criminal under and drain all the blood. Then remove all transplantable organs, some skin for grafting, the corneas, whatever is useful. Send what’s left to be buried or cremated.
Ice pick, up the nose and into the brain.
I can’t decide if I care less about this incident or weatherboarding goat f-ers for intel....
It was a bloody mess? Well, so was the crime scene where he killed his victim.
