A report into the botched execution of Clayton Lockett has revealed new grisly details of the moments leading up to his agonizing death.
According to the document, a doctor tried to insert an intravenous line into his groin in a frantic attempt to save him, but hit and burst an artery instead.
It caused blood to splatter over the doctor's jacket before the execution was officially stopped. Lockett's heart stopped beating moments later.
In the report, Oklahoma state prison warden Anita Trammell is quoted as saying that the procedure was a 'bloody mess'.

If there was a problem in starting an IV line in the criminal, it is likely that the dude was an IV drug user who destroyed all of his superficial veins. As for the doctor who stuck the criminals groin artery instead of the groin vein, that guy was an incompetent. In a normally-sized individual, a venous stick in the groin is easy.
???
I'd say it was "Mission Accomplished".
Don’t care.
As with Obamacare, the wrong thing can never be done the right way.
Looks like everyone involved reached “closure” at the end.
Was the desired “end state” achieved???
I missed the reason to try to save him. “Sorry, we’very been having trouble trying to kill you, and we just wanted you to know. Stay tuned!”
Why is it that every prisoner execution is a botched mess but every doctor assisted suicide goes off without a hitch?
And yet some young woman chooses to do herself in and it goes off without a hitch. If any of you have ever been put under for surgery, it don’t take long for you to get knocked out. How hard would it be to give a little extra push? Not sure of the number of folks who die in the OR but I’ll bet it happens a number of times a year.
Interesting that this article is from a British newspaper. Has anyone read the in another publication?
We can eliminate mishaps like these if we just went back to the firing squad.
“Save him....” from exactly what? The point of his being on that table was to execute him.
And execute him, they did. So what again is the problem here?
Or the guillotine.
Yeah, but that’s even more of a “bloody mess” and we can’t have that! Why, it’d be inhumane!
I have no problem with this. Humane death penalty methods should be reserved for murderers who killed their victims humanely.
“In the report, Oklahoma state prison warden Anita Trammell is quoted as saying that the procedure was a ‘bloody mess’.”
Yeh probably similar to what happened when he killed his victims. Karma’s a beach.
Send them to France for execution.
Terminally ill allowed to be put into deep sleep until death if French law passes

“... but hit and burst an artery instead.”
We got a leaker on aisle 15!
Boo Frickin’ Hoo.
What these presstitutes FAIL to mention is that on the day of his execution Lockett himself opened a vein in a successfull attempt to collapse all his veins in an UNsuccessful attempt to avoid the lethal injection.
HAH!
All he did was complicate matters and make his death just a little bit harder and more painful.
