Chippewa Falls, WI Dashcam video has been released that shows the disturbing last moments of a mans life as hes detained by a Chippewa Falls police officer on the way to the hospital.
29-year-old Casey Kressin died after suffering a severe asthma attack when the vehicle that was rushing him to the hospital was pulled over by a Chippewa Falls police officer.
After they were stopped, Kressins girlfriend immediately starts to beg the officer to take him to the hospital. The officer instead calls for an ambulance.
The couple was just 3 miles from the hospital when they were stopped. It took over 6 minutes for the ambulance to arrive.
During the stop, the officer callously listens to the begging couples pleas for help as Kressin slips further away. Hes going to die! He cant breathe! screams Kressins girlfriend. We can hear Kressin begging for help as he falls to the ground, starving for air, I cant breathe ..I cant breathe.
The officer just stares at the couple, telling them to wait for the ambulance. By the time the ambulance arrives, it takes another 2 and 1/2 minutes before Kressin begins his journey to the hospital; sadly too much time had passed. Police say Kressin became unresponsive at that time and was pronounced dead at Saint Josephs Hospital.
Chippewa Falls Chief Wendy Stelter says she stands behind the officers who responded, saying that Kressins girlfriend should not have been allowed to drive the rest of the way because she was hysterical.
However, she was only hysterical because her boyfriend was dying and being kept from life saving treatment that could have saved his life.

That's exactly what the cop did, with tragic results.
I agree. He'd been using an inhaler all night without relief. When they decided he should go to the hospital, they should have called for an ambulance. He would have had emergency medications much sooner and without risking others.
I had an Ohio State Trooper get royally peeved at me for driving about a mile and a half to a safe area before I pulled over. But it was safer for him and for me.
You have no idea what you are talking about.
My Brother had a heart attack. His wife drove him to the hospital which was 11 miles away but almost all rural interstate.
His Daughter phoned the hospital and they were waiting for him in the parking lot. Unfortunately he died on the way but they got him to the hospital as quickly as it was possible.
Calling an ambulance would have taken a huge amount of time.
“go by ambulance”
Way too expensive and way too slow if one only lives a couple of miles from the Hospital
actually I think it probably depends on where you live. I live in metro boston, hospitals are very close by, ambulances get there in literally a couple of minutes, and because of that, you don’t see people driving someone to the hospital.
Many years ago my friend had taken me to the emergency room for a kidney infection and half way home I had a really bad reaction from the penicillin shot. I remember she was speeding and said “where are the cops when you need them?”, of course that was back when we assumed they would help get us to the hospital faster.
These sorts of callous abuses by law enforcement, and by government in general, will continue until there are consequences. If you don’t have the balls to make sure there are consequences, then just take your beating like a good slave.
Good tactics. Stay safe out there. It’s a Jungle....
It's the victim's fault. He should have left for the hospital earlier.
It's the victim's fault. If he had taken better care of himself, he wouldn't have gotten asthma in the first place.
Sorry for your loss.
The supervising officer needs to learn about asthma. Prayers for the young man and his family.
Truly a case of neglect on the part of the police......they should have escorted the car to the hospital.
I’ve had asthma attacks, and yes, a person is very close to dying.
No it isn’t if it means a delay.you yell and raise hell until a doctor sees the critically ill person.Americans need to stand up to the worthless protocols. And that cop and police chief should be FIRED and prosecuted.Damned protocols are so the stupid people don’t have to use their brain and make judgments.Followed protocols is just an excuse.
Of course it took me 24 hr to convince the ER staff that my appendix needed to be removed (including getting a ride back home to get a good night's sleep before fighting the good fight the next day)..
He was my older Brother, a great athlete and as handsome as a movie star. He was my hero and always will be.
In a way I blame his daughter. He was working under her Summer house to repair something. This was in July and he had a heart condition. They should never allowed him to do that.
After he had the attack, they did the best they could tho.
If it was the last thing I ever did that cop would be a dead man.
When driving through Detroit at night (or most other times) waiting for a red is not a good policy. Check for on-coming and treat it as a stop sign for your direction....
Get a clue...
...
This lady was stopped for speeding through a red light. She was not going through it cautiously.
I assume you’re saying the lady should get a clue.
In English:
"I Am Like The Fallen Skylark"
O death, you assail me
Even love denies me life
How shall I speak
When my voice falls still
At the grave's reproach?
I am like the fallen skylark
That ceased to sing
When it died of a broken heart
My voice falls still
And no one will speak for me.
In the moment we least see it
We realize how mortal we are
And even a loved one
With tears falling to the ground
Cannot save us from our fate
Only heaven bears witness
To a name cut short
As all the years flee before me
My sealed eyes testify
To the unfairness of the world.
O death, you assail me,
Eternal rest may be my reward
And this life be my curse
The only thing left to me now
Is the quiet, silent grave.
Interrupted only by the foot falls
That pass through the graveyard
Where my life once had been
Attended only by the day's shadows
And the night's black cloak.
The issue is not that the car was stopped. The issue is the callousness (or raw stupidity) of the cop after the car was stopped.
I have some ideas, but posting them here would get me banned and/or arrested.
Red lights can be blown safely just like I do every shift, come to the light, no one in cross traffic proceed.
...
So I take it that speeding through a red light isn’t the correct way to do it.
