Man Dies During Traffic Stop From Asthma Attack as Cop Refuses to Let them Drive to Hospital
The Free Thought Project ^ | December 13, 2014 | Matt Agorist

Chippewa Falls, WI — Dashcam video has been released that shows the disturbing last moments of a man’s life as he’s detained by a Chippewa Falls police officer on the way to the hospital.

29-year-old Casey Kressin died after suffering a severe asthma attack when the vehicle that was rushing him to the hospital was pulled over by a Chippewa Falls police officer.

After they were stopped, Kressin’s girlfriend immediately starts to beg the officer to take him to the hospital. The officer instead calls for an ambulance.

The couple was just 3 miles from the hospital when they were stopped. It took over 6 minutes for the ambulance to arrive.

During the stop, the officer callously listens to the begging couple’s pleas for help as Kressin slips further away. “He’s going to die! He can’t breathe!” screams Kressin’s girlfriend. We can hear Kressin begging for help as he falls to the ground, starving for air, “I can’t breathe…..I can’t breathe.”

The officer just stares at the couple, telling them to wait for the ambulance. By the time the ambulance arrives, it takes another 2 and 1/2 minutes before Kressin begins his journey to the hospital; sadly too much time had passed. Police say Kressin became unresponsive at that time and was pronounced dead at Saint Joseph’s Hospital.

Chippewa Falls Chief Wendy Stelter says she stands behind the officers who responded, saying that Kressin’s girlfriend should not have been allowed to drive the rest of the way because she was hysterical.

However, she was only hysterical because her boyfriend was dying and being kept from life saving treatment that could have saved his life.

It takes 3 minutes for the ambulance to get started.
I have my flashers on and motion for the cop to lead me.
Give the officer the “choke” sign to alert him to the emergency.

This should be a murder case. The cop belongs in prison.

The officer has NO common sense or he’s evil. If he thought the woman was “too hysterical” to drive, why did he not load the man in his car and speed him the three miles to the hospital? I will not hate. I will not hate.

It's amazing when subjects about the police come out on FR, the Monday Morning Quarterback police-haters come out of the woodwork acting like the Ferguson protestors just like clock-work: feelings over fact and logic, and selective demonizing of the police as the radical left has ramped up recently in tearing down our culture.

The Founding Fathers got along quite well without swarms of police everywhere. Matter of fact, I think they'd be appalled at the current state of affairs with agents of the Crown.

Just because "police everywhere" is the status quo, doesn't mean it always was...

3 miles in city traffic can easily take more then 6 minutes.

You need to look at the lay of the land. It's 2 in the morning on Sunday in Chippewa Falls, WI. They live less than 5 miles away from the hospital.

Locals like this couple would think that drive was a nothingburger. The officer made the wrong decision.

How many minutes did she waste driving before that?

From the looks of it, she drove about a mile and a half before she was stopped. They lived just under five miles from the hospital, which is probably why neither of them thought it was a big deal.

At 2 in the morning, the couple and the police officer were probably the only two on the road in the mighty metropolis of Chippewa Falls, which is why he "made" them so quickly.

Tough luck for them, hey?

In fact, I have saved lives, so I do know something about it.

I thank you for your service. First, foremost, and always. Thank you.

They lived very close to the hospital. It may have been a risky decision for the woman to transport Casey to the ER, but not necessarily a wrong decision.

There is no guarantee that the ambulance could have reached their home any faster than they could reach the Hospital.

The tragic and fatal mistake was stopping for the police officer.

the thing I wondered about is why the officer didn't perform any life-saving techniques if warranted until aid arrived.

The officer was not trained in proper responses for this situation, nor did he have any equipment that would have been needed.

A bad outcome was almost certain under the circumstances.

I only bash stupid, incompetent, and arrogant police.
The good ones I appreciate.

Just wish you and the unions didn’t fight for the bad cops and bad policies.

Three miles, I didn’t know she was that close, that is going to haunt her, and everyone else that cared about the man.

As we found out in the Eric Garner case saying, "I can't breathe" apparently really means you can.

Which means lawsuits.

I think the same thing when police should shoot at criminal’s legs to stop them instead of shooting to kill. Think of all the lawsuits for injury and paralysis.

The Chief stands with the cop...

The Chief can be fired along with the Cop.

That's the only way to make a bureaucracy pay attention.

Wow, Lewistown is my husband’s hometown and we still go there a good deal.

Sounds like an ass. You should further mention PA has ZERO acceleration lane, yet he still went nuts over that “passing” lane nonsense.

He would’ve hated it in CT. When I lived there people were very polite on the road and stayed away from the slow lane when interchanges came up. And we had better acceleration lanes, no question. They moved to the “passing” lane if possible to make it easy flowing all around.

Maybe one could argue it is indeed “passing” an interchange!
