We've all heard the expression "all dogs go to heaven." On Wednesday, the spiritual leader of 1.2 billion people around the world gave it his imprimatur.
During his weekly address in the Vatican on Wednesday, Pope Francis was consoling a little boy who had recently lost his dog, assuring the boy that he and his furry friend would reunite in heaven.
One day, we will see our animals again in the eternity of Christ. Paradise is open to all of Gods creatures, the pontiff said, according to Italian news sources.

No, the bible says “in Adam WE SINNED.”
Get that word, WE, and the other word, SINNED.
Voluntary. As a group. Chose what could not turn out to be anything BUT hell.
This is original sin. Not original misfortune. Choice.
” I would snap your neck like a twig ... I know the Lord’s love ... He lives within me.”
LOL
He’s just like Romney. He’ll say anything he thinks you want to hear.
Animals have not sinned and are not forbidden from entering Heaven.
LOLlipops!
And how do they reconcile it with the belief that innocent, unbaptized infants cannot attain to Heaven, but must spend eternity on a lower plane? Methinks the Pope was simply trying to be kind, by telling a little white lie.
I would think that if I actually make it to heaven, I will be in the loving arms of my creator for eternity. Not sure if I will miss my dog, even though I love them dearly.
Good thing you didn't call him a fool.
animals never sin? Really? Where is that stated in the Bible? We have people just making up scripture.
Zactly.
Love these discussions
And I doubt he is even an idiot...just perhaps a little misguided.
I am just a little sensitive about animals...I have a bunch and they are wonderful little guys.
“If you hate God or His animals...I will snap you neck.”
Snapping necks, before or after beheading?
Where did they bite the apple?
How about you?
You are the hater of animals.
Threaten my animals and I won't behead you...but I will kill you.
My understanding is that some poples of the (RC) church has taught animals lack souls, but that other(s) have felt otherwise.
Anyone who’s had a pet knows they are very highly-spirited creatures.
Anyone following the usual Christian interpretation of Genesis knows that MANKIND “took the Fall” in the Garden of Eden... animals never did “Fall”
At any event,
the Bible envisons the future or afterlife as including nice, peaceful animals galore (Isaiah 11; Isaiah 65). Revelation keeps mentioning various horses, etal in Heaven (such as at 5:13, 19:11, 19:14) which, of course, we understand represent other forces (but they’re still horses in the script)
and Luke seems to see it this way, too (Luke 3:6 where most translations render it as “all flesh” ... not just “people”, though its discussable)
at any event, if you’ve had a pet you know the answer... the animals will all be there..... whereas not so many people will make the cut (Matthew 7:22,23). It is PEOPLE that have difficulty getting there, not animals (who never took “The Fall”)
See #49. Shoprt answer no, Hell is for Man and Angels.
