The Capitol Hill switchboard has been overwhelmed by calls to Congress.
The 202 224-3121 number is jammed, likely by people protesting House Speaker John Boehners 2015 government funding bill, which allows funding for President Barack Obamas unpopular decision to stop enforcing immigration law, and to award work-permits to at least 5 million illegal immigrants.
Boehners effort to fund the $1.1 trillion bill and amnesty is being backed by President Barack Obama, whose deputies are pushing Democrats to support Boehners bill.
The Daily Caller called the switchboard number at 3:28, and it was not answered for seven minutes. It is usually answered after a few seconds.
When quizzed by TheDC, the switchboard operator merely said there is high call volume. She declined to describe the level of calls. My job is to answer and transfer, she said.
TheDC called again at 3:50 and a second operator picked up the phone after nine minutes. When asked why there was a delay, the operator responded apparently that is self-explanatory
there is more people in line than normal.

Doesn’t he assume office on 3 JAN?
Absolutely!
How could he vote for that bill when they don’t take office until January 2015 when they are sworn in?? LINK to that.
I was on hold so long (18 minutes) that my phone went dead, got another phone and still on hold. Not even getting classical music anymore.
Cassidy is finishing out his term as a representative. Fleming was re-elected to his same seat.
I didn’t realize you asked the same question. Cassidy is finishing out his term as representative.
OH...I thought Cassidy was the guy who beat Mary Landrieu from LA, thanks for clearing that up.
What about the 15 dead children from border-jumper virus?
Get your surrender monkey pie hole off my country.
Wanna wave your white flag - then do it somewhere besides Free Republic.
I apologize for sounding like a downer; but haven’t we burned up phone lines, threatened, cajoled and taken other actions to get our reps to legislate as we have voted them to do? And each time they laugh in our faces for voting them in time after time that they crap on us. The all promised to defund Obamacare and amnesty and immediately they have turned around and done the opposite of what we demanded. Isn’t there something we can do besides call, email, march with signs, etc.? I’m asking because I have done all of the above things plus much more, and their disdain for us is more evident every day.
BUMP!
Just keep on hitting them. It helps, it works and it is very satisfying.
:)
I’ve been out all day and haven’t even listened to Rush or Hannity or Levin today due to work...I can’t even translate the Drudge headline about Boehner...can in layman’s terms someone explain to me the status of voting for the budget funding and what is going on and next steps? Thank you in advance.
Well well well...look who is back! FR’s new number one give up. “Toast” huh? Real nice. “Gone” Why wait, leave now so you don’t contribute any more of your pathetic defeatism to those that are unfortunate to be near you. Go ahead, quit. Go. Leave ‘RAT.
There was a “test vote” today called “the rule”. It barely passed, by one vote, and that was through arm twisting. Since the rule was agreed to, the vote on the bill was supposed to be at 2:00. But they didn’t have the votes so they’re in recess. And it’s now 7 hours later. If they don’t do something by midnight, government “shuts down.”
Cassidy did beat out Mary Landrieu.
OH so he was in House, and will now be in Senate...got it.
Yep, we've been betrayed!
