So far it looks like Mrs. Clinton would have at least as many problems in 2016 as she did in 2008.
There have generally been two reactions to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's Dec. 3 statement at Georgetown University that America should try to empathize with our nations enemies.
One camp holds that Mrs. Clinton simply chose the wrong word to express a banal thoughtthat the U.S. must understand its enemies. The other camp says her State Department record demonstrates she herself lacks the empathy to know how to deal with Americas adversaries or allies.
Both responses are true, yet I have another observation about her speech: It is further evidence Mrs. Clinton is at best a mediocre presidential candidate. She was lackluster in 2008 and worse today. The stiff, off-putting style is familiar. Whats more surprising is how sloppy, ill-prepared and tone-deaf she has become.
If Mrs. Clinton intended to say we must understand our adversariestheir motivations, methods and goalsshe should have said so. If her speechwriters draft was unclear, she should have ordered a rewrite. If she cant summon warmth and wit now, how will she display a winning personality in her umpteenth hundred event, assuming she becomes a candidate?
The empathy quote was memorialized on video. It may come back to haunt her: Sounding like President Obama on foreign policy isnt going to help her win in 2016, when the world is likely to be more chaotic and American interests even more threatened.

Because she think she is better than anyone else in the universe.
Bill wants a 3rd term
People like Clinton have a power drive(strictly a drive found in late civilizations such as Caesar in classical civilization). The Clinton’s of this world did not exist in great numbers during the times of the founders up to say Lincoln; today they are our politicians. Most of us do not even think the way the “Power People” do. They will kill for office.
Why do any of them? Ego.
Same reason why anyone runs for president. Power and ego.
Narcissistic Personality Disorder
Yes, you are right. I wonder when that thinking started? How long ago? I guess when the country came second and the individual decided it was them that was most important? And there are a lot of those around now, though democrats seem to be more power hungry.
It’s a defective character trait. She seriously believes that she’d be good for the country.
She probably also knows that she’d go down in history as the one who drove the final nail into the country’s coffin.
This is felt most in the realm of the judiciary. If she continues the liberal stacking of the judiciary and SCOTUS, we’ll be cursing her name (and her judges) for decades to come. It could take a generation or two for the country to recover from such a critical blow.
The liberals I know are not crazy about her corporatist leanings, but they figure that she can win. She’s well-known enough such that her negatives are already maxed-out along the voting populace. Bill remains inexplicably popular among the know-nothing average Joe voters out there; the media pimping the 1990s as a golden era for the country probably doesn’t help on this point.
At this point, we’ve been bashing her and pointing-out her psychopathic tendencies for the past two decades, and the general low-info public has taken this as normal. “That’s old news. You have nothing new on her, they’ll say.” The media will help her play the ladyparts card, which she hopes will get her enough of a gender gap to win.
It is for these reasons that I’d vote for almost any opponent of hers if I were living in a swing state. But since I live in a ruby red state, I have the luxury of being able to vote my conscience, should the need arise.
To continue her long, long “money for nothing” career, and to fulfill her personal version of the Peter Principle.
Every liberal idea that Hillary held dear has turned out to be wrong. That’s why she’s so mean. True believers turn nasty when they realize they were duped. Now, she just wants wealth and revenge. The problem is that she isn’t smart enough to take revenge on the organization that lied to her.....the Democrat Party.
Sometimes I think we’d be better off if we asked Prince William & Kate to be our King & Queen!
Yes and I still think in the end she will not run. The party is itching to dump her for Liz Warren or Bernie Sanders.
Probably one must think in a range of time say 1870 on. The Civil war placed America totally under the control of Northern money interests. The Civil War destroyed the closest to a nobility based upon land that America ever achieved. The Civil War was really Monied “Democracy” versus landed quasi nobility. Teddy(Circa 1900) had a “Power” drive and Wilson was ten times worse. FDR went power mad but would not kill. Hillary and those that will follow her will kill if necessary. “Caesarism!”
For Karl Rove or anybody else: I;ve said it before and I’ll say it again: HILLARY CLINTON DOES NOT WANT TO LEAD THIS NATION...........SHE INTENDS TO RULE IT.
Hell hath no fury like the vast robot armies of a woman scorned.
warren has ‘that new car smell’ according to the press. few know anything about her positive or negative
her giant ego telling her shell win this time
and some high paid consultants saying this could well be a repeat of 2008
Seeing MoveOn start funding FauxCahontas the other day indicates to me the Mob wants to take her down again.
I think you have it exactly right. On the one hand, her enormous ego is still telling her that she is entitled to the presidency. On the other hand, there are more and more signs that her time has passed. Her book tour didn't go well. Gaffes like her "dead broke" comment have gotten a lot of attention. Her recent speech to a half-empty auditorium at Georgetown didn't help, especially her "empathy for our enemies" remark (this was not a "gaffe" - it was part of her prepared remarks.) Moveon.org, the organization created to defend her husband, has abandoned her. Now, the State Department is refusing to release records of her time there as Secretary of State. Even if there's nothing damaging in these records, the perception is that she's hiding something.
Hillary has a big decision to make. If she campaigns for the nomination, only to be rejected again by her own party, it's something she'll never be able to live down. Her best course of action at this point might be to save face by announcing that she will not run, giving a nice "it's time to devote more time to my family" speech.
