We’re living in the most violent of times since before God drowned the world with His flood. Jesus said the times would be just like it was in those days - a world full of violence.
The last time it was like that, the most horrific incident ever known to man occurred. And, almost no one survived it. Sadly, few believed it ever happened.
Genesis 6:11 Now the earth was corrupt in the sight of God, and the earth was filled with violence.
Immediately after this, we have the great flood.
Crime is down a lot since the early 90s, IIRC.
