NEW YORK (AP) The mother and widow of an unarmed black man whose police chokehold death sparked protests across the country said Saturday they've been moved by the thousands of peaceful demonstrators who have taken to the streets after a grand jury declined to indict the white officer involved.
"It is just so awesome to see how the crowds are out there," said Eric Garner's mother, Gwen Carr, who added that she ended up stuck in her car after protests shut down traffic.
"I was just so proud of that crowd," Carr said. "It just warmed my heart."(continued)

I wonder if the store owner has a family. I wonder if he has to pay rent. I wonder if he and his family eat. I wonder if they have to buy gas. I wonder if their kids need clothing. I guess it’s okay if they have cable, right?
The laws may not suit you or I, but they are laws that were devised by legal means. Business owners have to comply with them. If they are going to play by the rules, don’t they deserve to survive?
If they do, shouldn’t the person who is doing something illegal be asked to stop, made to stop?
Folks, where is the disconnect with law and order here? There are a lot of laws I don’t like, but as an adult I accept them and move on. If I’m angry about them, I contact my local representative or city council and object.

I have always questioned if Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton were
really preachers since they have no church.
When I heard Al Sharpton was guest preacher in our town, I decided to check him out in person and see what it was all about.
I sat down and Sharpton came up to me - I dont know why, maybe it was because I was the only white person in the Church.
He laid his hands on my hand and said: By the will of Jesus the Lord All Mighty, and the will of God, you will walk today.
I told him I was not paralyzed. He came back and laid his hands on me again, and repeated the same thing.
Again I told him there is nothing wrong with me.
After the sermon I stepped outside and lo and behold, my car had been stolen.
