It wasnt a chokehold.
Thats just the biggest single distortion in all the talk about the Eric Garner case, in which the public has been misinformed and misled from the start.
The Rev. Al Sharpton has never had to put himself in harms way to protect our streets against crime, as our police officers do every day. Hes in no way qualified to stand on his soapbox and dictate procedures. I spent decades in law enforcement. During my time with the NYPD, I was responsible for over 1,400 felony arrests any of which couldve required the use of deadly physical force. Volunteering to be a decoy cop in the 1970s, I was the victim of more than 500 muggings, about 30 of which injured me seriously enough that I was hospitalized. I wound up in countless physical situations and was always able to get the perp into cuffs.

Oh.He was just doing his job. Just like the low level Nazis.
It's hyperbole to call the clearing of street solicitors from in front of retail stores, Nazism.
Certainly wasn't a headlock...One can see the cop's forearm pressed against Garner's adams apple in the video while they are on the ground...
It wasn’t over a cigarette. Apparently you listen to the MSM.
The police were called to the scene of a fight. Garner was involved in the fight, although his ‘buddy’ who videotaped it claimed that Garner ‘broke up’ the fight.
He’d been arrested for selling singles dozens of times. He was in the wrong already, then he resisted arrest. He slapped away the officer’s hands several times.
They had to physically subdue him, and during that, he overexerted himself. Diabetes, asthma, heart disease won.
Blame it on the cop if you want, but I blame it on Garner’s choice of occupation. He should not have been a repeat criminal nor a cop. He didn’t have the heart for it.
Just like with Michael Brown, they took out the trash.
He was talking, right? Then it was no chokehold.
Actually, quite the opposite.
Not very high. It has to be done right to cut off the flow of blood. It is hard to cut off the flow of breathing, and most people can deal without breathing for several minutes. Cut off the flow of blood and the milk turns sour almost instantly.
The heart will pump harder in response to this situation, and if you have heart disease, this can cause the heart to fail.
NOW, what can, and likely caused Garner to not be able to breathe is an ASTHMA ATTACK. He had asthma. Exertion promotes asthma attacks. Asthma attacks mean no oxygen going to brain. Heart pumps harder and if you have heart disease, it could fail. The choke hold actually may have had nothing to do with Garner's death. They could have tasered him and he likely would have had the same attack.
Not necessarily true...At the very least it was an attempted choke hold...
Garner wasn't talking, he was gasping...Even tho the air or blood was cut off, the larynx still works...COULD BE the cop was increasing pressure when they hit the ground...
Plus, the guy had asthma...The choker should have released him at the time of the obvious breathing problem...There was an entire squad of cops standing there who could have held Garner's arms and legs...
According to the ‘friend’ who videotaped it, the police were arresting Garner because he ‘broke up a fight’. I’m not sure who the fight was between. The ‘friend’ might be hiding some of the details of that fight. Anyway, the police get there at the end or after the fight. They attempt to place Garner under arrest because...
He was ‘involved’ in a fight (his friend kept repeating it out loud).
He was selling loosies.
He’s been arrested dozens of times for it.
The store owner/manager didn’t want him there.
I imagine any other participants in the fight were gone since no mention is made of their arrest, so Garner was left holding the bag, so to speak.
Now you’re grasping at straws. If air and blood are actually cut off, especially the former, no ability to speak.
The NYPD has a lot of problems, but this isn’t one of them.
Not a choke hold at all.
The fat slob couldn’t breath due to his obesity and his Asthmatic condition.
Thechoke technique that is unique and easy to identify, it was not used.
I agree, but given the medical problems of Garner and that he had just undergone and exhausting struggle....it may not have made any difference.
Neither he or my eyes lied to me.
It wasn’t a choke hold.
No, it’s not.
Let’s not play ignorant BS games.
Learn what you’re trying to speak about, then speak about it.
Using potentially lethal force to go after street solicitors when people stealing millions go scot free is a big step toward fascism.
Incidental contact.
Not a choke hold.
Funny how the cop haters, at one moment say “Don’t trust the media”, then take what the media says as gospel when it comes to cops.
