Rolling Stone magazine on Friday apologized for "discrepancies" in its bombshell story that said a female student at the University of Virginia was gang-raped at a fraternity prompting the school to suspend all Greek activity last month. The account given by the student, identified only as Jackie, allegedly took place at a Phi Kappa Psi party in September 2012, when she was 18. The magazine had not interviewed any of the seven suspects for the report.
In a major inconsistency, The Washington Post found, no current members of the fraternity or pledges at the time match the descriptions detailed of the alleged ringleader identified only as "Drew" in the Rolling Stone account.
"In the face of new information, there now appear to be discrepancies in Jackie's account, and we have come to the conclusion that our trust in her was misplaced," wrote managing editor Will Dana in a note to readers. "We were trying to be sensitive to the unfair shame and humiliation many women feel after a sexual assault and now regret the decision to not contact the alleged assaulters to get their account. We are taking this seriously and apologize to anyone who was affected by the story."

They should ask the Duke Lacrosse team how to proceed...
PKP and UVA should suit them into oblivion.
Fake, but accurate.
they won’t because it would damage the overall narrative the3 libs want to project.
that the populace is out of control and only the Feds can restore order.
“they wont because it would damage the overall narrative the3 libs want to project.”
the MSM preparing the way for Hillary’s rescue of the American female in 2016 from the melanin-challenged male dominant society.
“... apologized for “discrepancies” “
Translated ... the story was a complete fake and the author got caught pushing an agenda that didn’t stand up to even the lower that low current standards of journalism. However, the story and author are in the running for the annual “Dan Rather Fake But Accurate Award” given to the most despicable and conniving journalist of the year.
please not her! I had hoped she had slithered off somewhere far away.
Actually, it is the author who should feel betrayed about misplaced trust. Just so long as she picked the right victims and perps, she should have been able to get away with writing anything. Now they’ve turned on her for giving them what they wanted.
but...but...but...it’s about the series-ness of the charge!!!!
Keeper.
I doubt “Jackie” even exists, the author of the article has a serious problem with uva and probably made “Jackie” up to sell her story.
Furthermore, our lead attorney has informed us that we would probably lose a lawsuit by the non-rapists who we identified as rapists. So, to avoid such unpleasantness, we will toss Little Miss Slander under the bus, and quietly replace her with Little Miss Slander Version 2.
Nope. The Washington Post has reported they found “Jackie” and interviewed her. And she stands by her reality. It just doesn’t correspond with anyone else’s at UVA
Were they wearing purple cowboy boots?
It wouldn’t be difficult for the “reporter” at rolling stone to come up with an accomplice acting a part. You know, whatever it takes for the good of the cause. And of course the compost wouldn’t question that she was who she said she was. They are as bad as rs.
Yeah, but the Post has quoted actual identifiable people (with real names) at UVA, who claim knowledge of the person known as “Jackie”
The arbitrary suspension of all fraternities by the UVA president, in response to the story, has not been lifted.
