Could ANYONE here tell me JUST WHAT THE HELL happened to Sears? They used to be a “Not Bad” outfit.
There are just not enough customers with enough money to support the critical mass of quality merchandise to keep the customers coming in to buy more quality goods and higher margin goods. There are also too many big box discount stores offering competition that did not exist in the heyday of department store chains.
Could it be Sears bought Kmart. Kmart is anti-gun and took all sporting items that related, out.
They got taken over by an investment banker who knows nothing about retail and who has refused to listen to anyone who does.
They got old and refused to change their business model. Young people call Sears, Penny’s and others like them ‘Old Fogey Stores’....................
