Abortion is becoming ever rarer in the United States. On Friday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released its latest survey of abortion in the United States. The CDC tallied 730,322 abortions in 2011, the smallest number in almost 40 years. CDCs numbers are probably an under-count. Other surveys suggest that the number for 2011 was slightly larger than 1 million. But if the precise number of abortions is uncertain, the trend is not. The incidence of abortion in the United States sharply rose in the 1970s and 1980s, reached a peak in 1990, and has tumbled by nearly half over the past two decades.

I doubt they are counting use of the abortion drug.
Yes, but at the same time, birth control and abstinence is making a comeback. Less people want numerous lovers under their belt and as for those who do engage in out of marriage sex, they’re smartening up and avoiding pregnancy more by using birth control.
And then, consider this, a lot of those babies killed in the womb in the 70s and 80s and 90s would have been old enough to have had babies of their own by now so that makes even fewer clients.
RU 486 over the counter.
That’s the whole of the explanation.
Demographics is a big part of it. As the population ages, there are few women of child-bearing age, and fewer women in the younger cohorts most likely to conceive an unwanted pregnancy.
Injectable birth control like Depo Provera shots every 3 months and IUDs are much more popular. Why remember a pill every day or search for a condom when drunk when you can get a shot every few months for cheap or free (depending on health program/benefits) or an IUD once and be done for five years?
RU 486 (mifeprestone) is not available over the counter. The morning-after pill is.
However, there have been studies showing that having the morning-after pill at hand, or easily available, does not seem to change pregnancy rates. People alter the behavior if they have an easy out, but the out doesn’t always work.
“........less abortion has gone hand in hand with more children being born out of wedlock”-...........
Yes, to blacks who used the kids to get more and more welfare. Look at the stastics.
I would be interested in tracking sales of the morning after pill. I would suspect it has influenced the number of viable pregnancies that require surgical abortion.
I suspect that there is a percentage of young women using it as primary birth control. Long term health consequences of using it this way are unknown.
Birth control ( IUD’s and the pill in all of its permutations ) has certainly not gone out of style but STD rates are up across the board including such diseases as syphilis, this does not suggest an increase in abstinent behavior.
A decrease in the number of abortions is a very good thing, but women’s health remains in peril. Also, the damage done to society by fatherless children cannot be underestimated.
Less people having less babies then there were before. It’s not rocket science; Same reason crime has been dropping - less young males in the population. The baby boom was a population bubble....
The problem is that these are derived from Guttmacher Institute stats.
Guttmacher is a subsidiary of—you guessed it—Planned Parenthood.
IIRC, stats for NY and CA are not included, as they don’t report their stats.
So abortion counts are routinely understated.
Since 1973, there have been north of 60 million children killed by abortion in America alone.
Put another way—that is 10 times the number of Jewish victims of Holocaust.
Or, about one fifth of the present population of the USA.
Now you know why illegals are being given the red carpet treatment. This is replacement population tactics in plain view.
Blacks abort at the rate of 70%. For every ten black babies in the womb, seven are never born. And that has been going on for years.
Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood who formed it to get rid of Negroes and southern Europeans from the US population because they were “inferior”. She was the inspiration for Hitler’s genocidal programs. She is the proudest person in Hell today.
This is real simple. There are three reasons: 1) RU 486...2) The stigma of giving birth out of wedlock has been lost...and 3) having children out of wedlock has been incentivised by the government. You get paid, jack.
I was on Depo-Provera while I was with my last boyfriend (I broke up with him a decade ago and I’ve been abstinent since) and it is great. No menstrual cycle, huge bonus.
I think I believe too much in human nature.
I do know that each time a woman gets an abortion and continues to damage herself, that is just one more secret that they have to keep from any potential husband, something that will come out sooner or later.
I think it’s all about ultrasounds. Who hasn’t seen an ultrasound of a friend’s baby?
I think some people used to think it was just a blob of cells (that’s what they were told) and now they know it’s actually a little person.
A) Abortionist scumbags have no qualms about dismembering and murdering a helpless child, so they certainly have no problem under-reporting how many children they slaughter. It’s a cash business, after all.
B) An ever-increasing number of children are being slaughtered by their own mothers at home via chemical weapons of mass destruction.
