Several lawmakers took to the House floor Monday evening to make the Hands up, dont shoot, gesture to protest the police shooting of the unarmed Ferguson teen, Michael Brown.
Hands up, dont shoot. Its a rallying cry of people all across America who are fed up with police violence, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) said as he took the floor. In community, after community, after community, fed up with police violence in Ferguson, in Brooklyn, in Cleveland, in Oakland, in cities and counties and rural communities all across America.
Jeffries added that people are fed up with injustice, a broken criminal justice system and continuing to see young, unarmed African-American men killed as a result of a gunshot fired by a law enforcement officer.
Now this is a problem that Congress cant run away from and the [Congressional Black Caucus] stands here today to make sure that Congress runs toward the problem, Jeffries said. That we come up with constructive solutions to breaking this cycle, this epidemic, this scourge of police violence all across America.
Joining Jeffries was Rep. Yvette Clarke (D-N.Y.), Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) and Rep. Al Green (D-Texas), who praised the handful of St. Louis Rams players for also making the hands up gesture as they entered the field for their game Sunday night.
This has become the new symbol, a new statement, a statement wherein people around the country now, are calling to the attention of those who dont quite understand that this is a movement that will not dissipate it will not evaporate. It is a movement that is going to continue, Green said on the floor.
Facts be damned.
Lawmakers should make the “hands up” gesture on the House floor. Most of them are criminals.
More proof that there are no adults in DC. Disgusting.
Four people makes “several”? I’m surprised they didn’t label it “nearly a dozen” or some other sort of media-math.
At any rate, here’s an idea...STOP BREAKING THE LAW, DIPSH!TS!
Drink ...
Thugs get Slugs, Mikey ...
I guess you already know that.
Crass gesture.
Had enough yet?
Guess what?
We’re fed up with thugs.
Here’s a “gesture” - read between the lines...
They may need the practice.
This just shows how stupid they are. They run with the narrative, facts be damned.
Browns future was bright.....sorry, that was the muzzle flash.
let it drop. stop giving it attention.
0bama wants this race war.
sick of hearing about this crap.
He was a thug who assaulted a store keeper, robbed the store, assaulted the cop and had drugs in his system.
Now we all hear about the cops being bad off the ignorant or those who want anarchy.
Did they hold up a box of “STOLEN” blunts and shove each other also?
“...fed up with police violence in Ferguson, in Brooklyn, in Cleveland, in Oakland, in cities and counties and rural communities all across America.
That’s not what I’m fed up with. Perhaps I missed the footage of the police burning down and looting stores in Ferguson.
Why not just pass a law to legalize:
ROBBING CONVENIENCE STORES
ASSAULTING POLICE OFFICERS
?????
run toward the problem this way, states need to pass laws for independent investigations of all police killings.
Queen Sheila must’ve seen a camera.
You’re absolutely right.
