Road Trip: Soldiers Walk Memorial Park ~ Arcadia, Wisconsin

Thanks to rabidralph for the tip for us to visit Soldiers Walk Memorial Park this week!

No visit to Wisconsin would be complete without a tour of the beautiful 54 acre Memorial Park and its' unique tribute to veterans of all wars and conflicts located just 40 minutes North of LaCrosse in Arcadia, Wisconsin.

 Stroll along the Avenue of Heroes, which is handicap accessible, to witness exceptional memorial statues of the fighting men and women who paid the supreme sacrifice for the freedom we enjoy today.

The Avenue of Heroes Walk is laid out in meters with each meter representing one year. The Walk Way covers 500 years from the establishment of Arcadia in 1854 until 2354. Memorial plates note events in the history of Arcadia. Strolling east again, you will see the Civil War “Boy” Soldiers, which gives recognition to the under-age soldiers who took part in the Civil War.

All of the flower beds on the walk are measured in meters. One meter represents one year of that particular war As you stroll down the walk, you will see next in view the statue of Abraham Lincoln from the Civil War era and a bit further down the walk, you will see the Angel of Mercy monument in memory of the Asian War Movement.

Good morning, Kathy, it is a cold morning 22F. I don’t know how long this cold snap will last, but it can not leave fast enough for me.

Rough day today...Mom taken to the hospital with a UTI,
Airline called and told me they cancelled a very important CONNECTING flight next May,
Was raining so hard I couldn’t bring my bike to be fixed,
