WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama made a forceful pledge on Monday to use his last two years in office to address the "simmering distrust" between police and minority communities as he requested $263 million for the federal response to the civil rights upheaval triggered in Ferguson, Missouri.
Obama said he would set up a task force to study how to improve community policing with an eye toward building trust between law enforcement and communities of color. He also said he would consider imposing tighter controls on the proliferation of military-style weaponry and equipment provided to many police departments.

In other words.... $200 million to go to the groups who protested in Ferguson, and $53 million to DEM COFFERS.
I am shocked to see many Freepers AGREEING with Obama about police cameras.
If you agree with Obama about anything, you need to check yourself.
Yes, he does often say things that are undeniably, factually correct. That is part of his life-long training to be an expert at conversational hypnosis.
But before we start nodding our heads and falling under his collective spell, remember that he wants a NATIONAL POLICE force EQUIVALENT to our military.
That is something we definitely do not want or need.
This is a man who we need to keep far, far away from local law enforcement.
We do not need any federal laws dictating cameras or what tools police should use or not use.
We do not need any federal programs providing funds or partial funds to meet Obama’s local law enforcement objectives.

“Communities of color” are nasty bug infested places that I have no interest in ever seeing.
I also think that will last about 18 months at most, before there is a hue and cry from people like Barack Obama -- as hundreds of thousands of YouTube videos are posted showing a disproportionate number of black Americans getting arrested by police for various crimes all over the country.

If Obama is serious about improving community policing, he should nominate community policing’s all-time undisputed expert, Rudy Giuliani, as his next Attorney General, and let him save America the way he once saved New York.

I just read Jersey City just received about 170 rifles from the DoD!
