Why Do British Royals Refuse To Visit Israel?
Business Insider ^ | 11/28/2014 | Elliot Abrams

The bizarre story of the refusal of British royals to visit Israel, while they are constantly in the Arab world, continues.

I wrote about this phenomenon here, last February, when Prince Charles visited Saudi Arabia. As I noted then, the Queen has never set foot in Israel and Prince Charles set foot there briefly only once, for the Rabin funeral.

By contrast, in just the month of November 2014 we found Prince Andrew and Prince Harry at what the Foreign Office must have considered a diplomatic necessity: the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Prince Andrew also visited Saudi Arabia (at the request of the Foreign Office, it was announced)...

Firstly, the Jews killed were not Israelis, as the nation didn’t exist then.

Secondly, they were members of one of the two Jewish terrorist groups in Palestine at the time: the Irgun and the Stern gangs. Not IDF, not freedom fighters, terrorists. Two groups btw that most Jews in the region opposed openly inc men like David Ben Gurion. Many Jews helped the British hunt them down, as they not only opposed their actions, but the bombings by the Irgun and Stern gangs had killed and injured many innocent civilians, including many Jews. The two gangs also murdered any fellow Jew they decided was pro-British. They even murdered a Swedish count, who’d spent WW2 SAVING thousands of Jews!.

They were not heroic freedom fighters, but terrorists, the Jewish IRA. Or ETA. They bombed and murdered not only soldiers, but civilians, inc their own people.

The Stern gang even met with Nazi representatives in 1941 to discuss open operations against the British in return for the end to Jewish killings and Jews being allowed to go to Palestine in the event of a Nazi victory. Think I am lying?. Go check.

Thirdly, they did not hang one officer. They abducted two unarmed British sergeants, tortured them, murdered them, and then booby trapped their bodies. Their names were Martin and Paice.

I am utterly disgusted that you think their tortures and murders were ‘great’, or that the murder of any military officer, British or not, is a thing to be gleeful about. You should be ashamed of yourself. I was genuinely astonished by your post, I could not believe anyone would revel and celebrate the brutal murder of a soldier. Or in this case, two young men.

What would you say if I said the murder of an American soldier was ‘great’?.........

Firstly, you skip over the fact that the Jews were in fact two terrorist gangs that even the majority of Palestine Jews opposed and actually helped the British hunt down, with the public consent of Ben Gurion.

Secondly, the RAF helped defeat an Arab attack at Ramat David airfield in the 1948 war. So British forces helped Israel at least once, where were US forces?. And before you start mentioning the Arab Legion, the UK govt made it illegal for any British soldier to fight for the Legion, those who did were arrested and imprisoned on return to the UK.

Say what? The IDF did not even exist when that happened. It was the Irgun (a Jewish terrorist group that future Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin belonged to; they also bombed the King David Hotel). Also, I don’t believe it was an officer that was hanged; I think it was a soldier from the ranks, and there was more than one.

Our empire collapsed because we near-bankrupted ourselves twice in two world wars, losing almost a million men in the first, and fighting the evil of Nazism alone in the second for nearly 18 months whilst others collapsed or stood by and watched.

And what thanks do we get?. None. Our heroism, courage and contribution/sacrifice ridiculed by Hollywood whilst our Stateside cousins tell us how we, the Canucks and the Empire sat drinking tea whilst they won two wars singlehanded.

I wouldn't read too much into this. Remember, the British and French were both allied with Israel in the 1956 war against Egypt, despite U.S. opposition.

I would imagine not visiting in the last couple of decades would be the Foreign Office wanting to avoid a visit until Israel agrees to a two state solution treaty. Of course, that'll be the day.

Yes, the Irgun Zvai Leumi & Stern Gang were terroristic. When the ship Altalena was bringing them munitions, Ben Gurion said to David Shaltiel commander of the Haganah, “I’m giving you your toughest assignment yet. Today you may have to kill Jews.” And the Haganah did just that.

No mention of Deir Yassin?

BTW there’s some really fun footage of Egyptian Spitfires shot down by Israeli Messerschmitts.

;^)

Yes Mitch - I also wonder whether it has anything to do with the belief that the British throne is the continuation of the Throne of David. I don’t believe it but there are lots of people who buy into that crap including the Royal Family I am lead to believe.

I suspect that the travels of the Royal Family are at least reviewed by HM’s ministers. As for Abu Dhabi, well, the UK does a boatload of business Gulfside.

I suspect that the travels of the Royal Family are at least reviewed by HM’s ministers.

Not just reviewed - decided by.

The British Government (most specifically the Foreign Office) decides what countries the Royal Family visits. Technically, a Royal can choose where they go on holidays without government permission as long as they are not carrying out any official visits, but they would never go somewhere the FO actually objected to. And the FO doesn't want them going to Israel. The Foreign Office is pro-Arab and not offending the Arabs is one of their biggest aims in life.

Two reasons:

Too much inbreeding.

Ingrained British aristocratic anti-Semitism.

If it weren’t for their Jewish Prime/Foreign Minister Benjamin Disraeli, the UK would still be a small fishing country with bad beer and bad teeth. Well, one out of three isn’t bad considering that the British Lion has no teeth, and only one or two aircraft carriers.

Your argument is loud and sound. American society was upended by 50,000 casualties in Vietnam. Almost 20,000 men died in the AIR over Britain.
