I didn’t make the connection when you posted about Kilay Ridge the other day. I’m sort of putting the pieces together day by day. It was only this morning that I saw the name on the map and figured it out. I got the map from the 32nd Division website. I put a post together for tomorrow that will add some more information on that battle.
The Japanese will spend their army in the Philippines, but it won't feel like it because they will continue to fight to the death.
Our guys were indeed tough bastards.
What the heck, they already spent their navy and air forces. :-)
According to the story on page 9, “terrific rains brought ground fighting to a standstill in the Ormoc corridor.” I guess they didn’t get the memo on Kilay Ridge.
Yeah, well, that’s newspapers for you.
I can’t believe those guys were actually fighting in typhoons and tropical storms. Just incredible.
I guess that makes Truman a war criminal for bombing 2 cities in Japan.

Dresden is months away from this date. So, no war criminal yet. Also, Roosevelt must be a war criminal by this definition.
So you don’t count the British sinking a hospital ship?
They did not sink the hospital ship on purpose no more than some of our planes shot up some of our on guys in France.
