A social media campaign calling for a boycott on spending this Black Friday has caught the attention of celebrities.
In an effort to protest the Missouri grand jurys decision on Monday not to indict officer Darren Wilson for the fatal shooting of Michael Brown in August, US celebrities have taken to social media to use the hashtags #NotOneDime, #BlackoutFriday and #BlackoutBlackFriday to advocate for a retail boycott. They include actors Michael B. Jordan and Jesse Williams, Fruitvale Station director Ryan Coogler, actress Kat Graham, hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons and journalist Soledad OBrien . The hashtags are meant to encourage people to stop shopping on the biggest retail day of the year as a protest against police brutality.
The campaign was started by a grassroots group called Blackout for Human Rights, which aims to to raise awareness that builds and maintains pressure on the instruments of power until we are satisfied that the current threat has passed. The group has hopes to make Black Friday (November 28, 2014) a nationwide day of action and retail boycott.

They are trying to hurt America and whites in particular, to show us that racism is bad and all communities should be treated well.
Generally speaking I consider myself to be a bit better informed than "the average bear." With the exception of O'Brien (whose name I recognize but who I could not pick out of a line up) I have no idea who any of these people are.
Nonetheless, I have decided to bow to celebrity pressure and withhold my shopping dollars on Black Friday. Now all I have to do is figure out how to spend less than zero.
Celebrities? Sorry you lost me right there...
protest capitalism by boycotting deep discount day and paying full retail instead at a later time. brilliant
What threat is that? Such hysteria. Has Time-Lies-Warner-Turner ever been so kind and supportive when covering a TEA Party protest?
What instrument of power did black friday retailers use to put down Michael Brown? Expectation of being paid for merch such as cigars?
Should I waste my time going to Wikipedia to see who they are?
Yes!! When racists boycott the stores, EVERYBODY wins!!
Stevie Wonder is still supposedly boycotting the state of Florida because George Zimmerman was not put in jail for shooting his assailant. Pretty awesome.
Michael B. Jordan is an American actor. He is best known for his roles as teenage drug dealer.
We’re out of dishwashing liquid. Wifey wants me to go get some.....sigh....
I would not even recognize 95% of celebrities if they walked into a room.
So why would I ever listen to them? About anything?
Wait until the illegals completely overun hollywood and surround the non evil white priviledged celebrities.
Are you sure about this. You do know what the meaning of the term "black" Friday is right?
The less they sell on Black Friday the more $$ they will take in during the holiday season...they have no real competitors in the marketplace. They have to compete in the circus that is Black Friday to stay in the game .... but they dont enjoy it.
If they have no competitors, why would they have to participate?
I'm just asking. I'm no business expert. I was always under the impression that all the great black Friday "deals" being offered were really just outdated, inferior, off brand junk being sold to the poor and ignorant like it was something great. I think the retailers do just fine on Black Friday.
Most don’t even shop at places like Wal-mart.
People will simply just go online.
Day-um! Ya mean the Honkies are going to get a crack at the (quantities limited) bargains?
Fact: The overwhelming number of American citizens knows that the Obama, beloved, “Gentle Giant”, Michael Brown was an “Oamabot”, would be cop killer, thug, criminal, bully, abuser, Black racist, druggie, and, comes from a dysfuntional family that includes active, convicted felons!!! So much for the Black Friday Boycott!!!
Yeah. It reminds me of "protest high gas prices by not buying gas on Thursday".
Everyone fills up on Wednesday and Friday, instead.
