Mitt Romney: Republicans Should 'Swallow Hard,' Pass 'Permanent' Amnesty Bill
Breitbart ^ | 26 Nov 2014 | Tony Lee

Former Massachusetts Governor and failed presidential candidate Mitt Romney believes Republicans should "swallow hard" and pass a permanent amnesty bill in the wake of President Barack Obama's executive amnesty that even Romney conceded would encourage more illegal immigrants to enter the country.

It's not a matter of 'perfect'. That's a strawman set up by liberals that vote republican.

Romney didn't match the republican party platform on abortion, gun-control, socialized medicine, amnesty, or bigger government. That isn't imperfect, that is absolutely what I don't want.

There is no worse or better when it comes to poison. I don't want any of it.

You can shove moral relativism where the sun don't shine.

I then had to set aside my heartache and vote what was best for my country.

You didn't save your country. Obama got elected when you threw your vote away on a liberal republican. You are the reason the country is in the shape it is in. If you vote for a liberal, don't be surprised when you get liberal government.

If you run a liberal republican in 2016, you will lose. Count on it.

We all want progress, but if you’re on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive.

Why do we want to keep bringing in more people to push down the wages and push up the number of people on welfare?

Answered your own question there.

So who did you vote for? If it wasn't Mitt then you helped elect Obama. The rest of your argument I agree with. I would love Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Scott Walker, or another conservative candidate. However, if they are not on the final ticket I will have to decide between the Democrat or the Republican, and I see no one in the Democrat Party I could even consider voting for. Voting for a 3rd party candidate, whose chance of getting elected are so remote, is the same as voting for the Democrat candidate.

Of course if you continue to rebel we will continue to lose. I chose instead to fight against the Republican establishment and change the party from within. Then and only then do I believe we have a possibility of changing the liberal mindset that affects too many of the citizens. This is the main reason politicians continue to support & govern more liberally.

My honest feeling though is that until we are able to change the schools we will continue to trend liberal in this country. They. along with the press, have been responsible for the citizens becoming more liberally oriented.

Bottom line is this country is in real trouble and I am not sure we can even reverse the liberal trend, especially if we conservatives continually fight against ourselves. Instead we need to make our goal, changing the Republican party establishment from within. The Democrat Party is a lost cause in my opinion, but we should probably infiltrate that party as well, just like they have infiltrated the Republican Party.

You & I want the same results, conservative philosophies to be the guiding force in this country. Not only in our politicians, but within the hearts and souls of American citizens.

There is not going to be a quick fix and most likely neither you or I will see the desired level of conservatism achieved. Our best hope is to see liberal philosophy lose favor, so perhaps Obama may have be what this country needed. We need to elect the most conservative we can. Hopefully they will demonstrate that the majority of people live better under their guidance. If not then we make the argument that he too was to liberal, and that someone even more conservative is needed, Then slowly get candidates that are more conservative than the previous. It most likely will take several generations to make the changes we feel are needed for this country to once again become the beacon of hope for mankind.

That will also require America's citizens to return to God as he is the ultimate key to the country's success. So not only do we need to work on our country but also our churches. Like I said this is going to be a long term battle, so we need to start thinking long term, not just an election cycle.

Nope. You are the one that wasted your vote for Mitt, and Obama got elected anyway.

There were several 3rd party candidates on the ballot last presidential election. They stood as much chance of winning as Mitt.

He was unelectable.

You wasted your vote on a liberal republican.

You will help elect Hillary with your vote for the liberal Romney. The GOP-E knows they can count on your vote, even if they run a liberal. Reward bad behavior, get more of it.

You are exactly correct, as our family stated for years, the Hillary group wanted him far more than the Undocumented one. Romney was to bring in Hillary next time around.

Hillary-Romney.

It is never a wasted vote when you cast it for the better of the viable candidates. No 3rd party candidate has ever won the Presidency. So who wasted their vote and helped elect Obama? Probably neither of us, because I think Obama got re-elected by fraud & corruption.

Patience is a virtue.

You ignored my request that conservatives quit fighting amongst each other and instead come up with a viable game plan that will work in the long struggle ahead of, not only us, but our descendants as well. I wish a quick fix were possible, but the reality is we are so far down the road that it will take time, well beyond our lifespans. As I said, the schools, the press, and most importantly our churches will need to be healed of liberalism as well. Until they are healed, there will be no healing for this country. This is going to be a very long struggle, and fighting amongst ourselves will make it even longer.

A long term game plan is what is needed. Electing a Ted Cruz will not fix this country just as electing Ronald Reagan didn't fix the country (though it did & would help in the short term). Because the problems in this country are rooted deeply within our society. Our politicians are nothing more than a reflection of our society.

More times than not, getting from point A to point B can not be accomplished by traveling in a straight line.

You seem like a bright person, and we probably agree on more issues than we disagree, what say ye about ceasing to lay blame at the feet of fellow conservatives. Instead let's unite to find common ground with which we can start to build a better future for our children, grandchildren, and all descendants that follow? United we can accomplish much more than being divided and playing the blame game.

All well and good, but that would be struck down immediately by a liberal federal judge. California tried to do it with Prop 187 and a single judge vacated the law. Illegals continue to enjoy free public education in the state.

Very true, it will never pass an 0bola appointed judges "constitutional muster"...
It's more a wish list.

Stockholm syndrome—where the victim embraces his abuser’s values.

Republicans need to understand that the media is not the people—that regardless of the abuse they get from the media and Democrats (I know, the distinction is trivial), their real support is from the people.

Everything I’ve ever read about the psychology of abuse and bullying applies to Republican politicians. Unfortunately.

It is a wasted vote, because liberal republicans are NOT a viable candidate, regardless of your wishes.

If your party runs a liberal republican, you will lose again.

I will not quit fighting liberal republicans in either the primary or the general election.

You don't get to make those rules for other people.

Conservatives will fight your liberal republican candidates.

Personally, I'm not a republican, so I don't care if the party goes the way of the Whigs. There is always a conservative option.
