Democrats made a mistake by passing President Barack Obamas health-care law in 2010 instead of focusing more directly on helping the middle class, third- ranking U.S. Senate Democrat Charles Schumer said today.
Unfortunately, Democrats blew the opportunity the American people gave them in electing Obama and a Democratic Congress in 2008 amid a recession, Schumer of New York said in a speech in Washington. We took their mandate and put all our focus on the wrong problem -- health care reform.
Schumer said Democrats should have addressed issues aiding the middle class to build confidence among voters before turning to revamping the health-care system. He said he opposed the timing of the health-care vote and was overruled by other party members.
The plight of uninsured Americans and the hardships created by unfair insurance company practices certainly needed to be addressed, the senator said. But it wasnt the change we were hired to make in the 2008 election.

The thought of how this hardcore Marxist would help the middle class is as frightening as Obamacare. Was that what the stimulus plan was supposed to be?
Pray America is waking
As Rush says, the most dangerous place to be is between Schemer and a mike.
Schemer sees the handwriting on the wall for Reid, and he’s positioning himself for the Senate Rat leadership position (hopefully, Minority Leader).
Smells like he is posturing for being asked to be her Vice-President.
“In all cases the GOP is blamed by the grubercrats. And since journalists are all grubercrats . . “
I fully agree that the media and most government spokesmen will attempt to blame the GOP for any shutdown. However, I believe it’s important that conservatives do not go around saying that they will shut the government down if they do not get their way.
Summed up nicely.

What Schumer meant was:
Democrats made a mistake by Grubering about Obamacare when they should have been Grubering about the economy.
Another lying rat deserting a ship of liars?
all I see is nails
Yep. I believe he's up for reelection in 2016 too. Maybe he's hoping for a VP slot.
serpent bites its own tail
Democrats make rhetorical switches all the time.

If I was the House Majority leader, I would not allow any bill to advance to modify one word of ocare. I would stand aside and let the dem’s explain to the great unwashed why they are getting screwed. Asshole’s like schumer need to be held accountable for once...Alas,..I just remembered that boner is the Majority leader..never mind.
Funny, I don’t remember him opposing it when it was rammed down our throats.
PLUS, MEDICARE sets the Prices for what insurance companies pay for procedures! If the GOVERNMENT had not gotten involved, we’d all be better off.
You are so right about that, Ann.
Most people don’t bother to find this out....they just like to repeat what leftists say.
The Democrat dogs crapped on the carpet big time.
How do we teach them not to do that again?
Upchuck holds a hammer the same way bobo rides a bike - like a fag.
