Five Ways Congress Should Respond To Obama’s Exec Amnesty-Don’t get mad. Don’t get even. Get nasty.
The American Spectator ^ | November 25, 2014 | Scott McKay

"........What Obama has done—asserting the right to legalize millions of trespassers and squatters against the expressed wishes of Congress and in contravention of settled federal law by use of what he and his minions term “prosecutorial discretion”—cannot stand. GOP leadership on Capitol Hill needs to overreact to it in order to set an example....

[SNIP]

1.Yes, Defund The Bogus Fiat Amnesty. The Federalist’s Sean Davis took the squishes to task last week for their attempts to sell impotence, and he was correct on all points:.....

2.Censure.When the Bill Clinton impeachment mess was unfolding in 1998,the Senate Democrats’ response to House Republican talk of impeaching the president was a resolution of censure for his conduct. Senator Dianne Feinstein introduced, with 37 co-sponsors,a pretty stiff bill of particulars of Clinton’s misuse of office, and a personal statement that Clinton was a dirty SOB to boot......

3.Back Off, Or You Get No Appointees.Ted Cruz suggested this to Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday, and it’s been hinted at both by McConnell and Boehner, Essentially, the Senate would approve none of the president’s appointees, with the exception of positions related to national security, until he rescinds his immigration executive order.......

4.The State of The Union Is Broken. Another idea comes from Joel Pollak at Breitbart News:Congress should indicate to President Obama that his presence is not welcome on Capitol Hill as long as his “executive amnesty” remains in place. The gesture would, no doubt, be perceived as rude, but it is appropriate—and would be far less jarring or uncomfortable than the hostile reception Obama would likely receive in person. In lieu of an address, Congress would offer to read aloud whatever document Obama saw fit to send through......

5.Mr. President, Go To Your Room. This one is my idea:kill the White House travel budget until the president rescinds the fiat amnesty.....

I like the defund travel suggestion; this would hit O where it hurts. No more visits to his Hollywood pals, no more vacations to Hawaii and other exotic places. Ok, let’s fund enough money for one monthy trip to Camp David. I’m in for that :)

I agree ThunderSleeps - this 5 step process is appropriate and achievable.

The most horrific part of it thru 0bama’s eyes would be the “go to your room” part. Treat him like the child he is.

But no nominees is large for our future. Defunding per the appropriations process is large to stop 0bama AND good for the future of the Nation.

I am not a downer - but I do think any/all will have to wait until the new Congress. So I hope this Congress doesn’t give too much.

I have no faith in what the Speaker of the house plans on doing since he has allowed the dictator to get away with smashing our Constitution to the point it’s ineffective.

We are living in a dictatorship now and it won’t take much more to keep us there for good.

The only thing obama needs now is the ability to imprison all of those who don’t agree with him.

I think you are being a little over the top. You are not living in a dictatorship and, to be frank, what was the GOP to do when they did not control the executive and the senate for the last 4 years.

I think conservatives have taken a good step with more getting elected and taking over the senate. Let’s watch what plays out in January when the new congress take hold.

“...get nasty...”

Progressives are nasty, psychotic, adolescent punks and should be treated as such.

IMHO

Nah. Come the new Congress. That will be the chance.

With Harry protecting 0bama, the politics didn’t work for us. Now, they will. 0bama will have to veto things. He didn’t have to before.

First, the new Congress will give him bills passed w/ significant bipartisan support. Keystone, mandate in 0bamacare, and a few others. Then we’ll give him individual spending bills to fund popular parts of government - DoD, National parks, etc - these bills will have no defunding mechanism and he will not be able to veto them without accepting the consequences of a shutdown. He is weak and impotent now and these bills could get veto proof votes. 0bama won’t risk being overridden.

THEN the bills start coming w/ defund components, no travel, etc.

0bama is thru if the Rs get individual funding bills. I don’t know how he can stop it though. Maybe amnesty, gitmo releases, and ferguson foment are part of a plan to make Rs overreact and return some political power to him... and I’m sure there will be more crap coming.

Hell! I hope your right.I maybe over the top here but I have very little faith in the G.O.P. Leadership in D.C.They couldn’t fight their way out of a wet paper bag.

The Republican-controlled Congress should refuse to have the 2015 SOTU address before a joint Congress. Have Traitorobama send a copy of his SOTU in the form of rolled paper to one of the Congressional restrooms.

Republican leadership is timid, at best.

With regard to the State of the Union, I would simply ban the use of a TelePrompTer in the Capital building. I will be a hoot watching Obama give a speech without one.

Boehner is weakness personified, and nobody respects weakness. Yet Republicans continue to accept him as a leader. What does that say about the GOP?

“The Republican-controlled Congress”

***********
Technically, they will be in control of congress. But in reality, they won’t control anything. The Democrats and their pals in the media will continue to play them like a fiddle.

If I was a Democrat, I’d thank my lucky stars everyday for the GOP. Nothing better than having a weak and pliant opponent.

If 0bama were smart, he'd jump at this. He'd be able to whine about being mistreated, perhaps throw in some racism charges, and he would avoid being heckled with "YOU LIE" and "LIAR" for 90 minutes on tv...

The GOP intends to outwait Obama for 2 years and then pick up the pieces. Thats the plan.

Absolutely true. You can’t score any points when you’re always playing defense. The GOP will fail — again.

------ I hope so.

A majority of Americans are fed up with Obama's antics and tantrums and race baiting and lies. Let him stomp his feet. PLEASE let him stomp his feet! The people just voted; they want Congress to cause him to stomp his feet in discomfort.

Don’t forget unanswered criminal filings. How many have been arrested for low level crimes like DUI and never showed up in court?

I agree with the “blow off the State of the Union”. It’s become nothing but a big photo op for everyone and is no longer productive. Empty seats would be an effective means of protest.

No, the idea isn't to "blow off' the SotU, but to not invite Obama to give it in the first place. There's nothing, other than tradition, that says that the Speaker of the House has to invite the President to give the address - and the President, like anyone else not a member of the House, cannot simply just show up without being invited.

Te only requirement is that "from time to time" the President must submit a SotU to Congress, which can be done as a written report and need not even be annual.

The incoming Congress will likely do nothing. But they should. At the minimum the Senate should Censure Obama in a serious and solemn way to set a tone. They should also block any non essential nominees for the next 2 years. We don’t need any more lefty judges on the Federal bench. Start defunding Obamacare and the work permits for dreamers.

6. Defund Moochie’s Royal lifestyle.

- Eliminate her excess paid staff of beauticians, hair dressers, protocol advisers, etc. It’s obvious by now that trying to improve her appearance, her taste, her carriage, her her manners or poise is a futile effort and a waste of money.

- No more tax-payer paid all night Rap and Hip-Hop crack and dope parties at the White House.

- No more taxpayer paid Wagyu Kobe beef and buttered Lobster pig-outs for the Mooch while she forces her starvation diet of chopped corn husks and boiled dandelion roots on grade school kids.

- No more flying to NY for million dollar Date Nights.

- No more solo Boeing 747 aircraft trips for Moochie on family vacations and overseas junkets. Fly with the family or stay home.

- No more taxpayer paid multi-million dollar globe trotting vacations for the Mooch and 300 of her closest cling-ons.
