School kids around the country are tweeting rather unfortunate pictures of the meals they're being served at lunchtime, and thanking first lady and healthy school food advocate Michelle Obama for their bowls of mush and mystery proteins.
The tweets, which have carried the not-so-subtle #ThanksMichelleObama hashtag, were being sent out at a rate of 40 per minute late last week, but started to gain momentum some 10 days back and are still continuing to be posted as of this morning.
"We've seen the photos being tweeted," said Sam Kass, executive director of Let's Move! and senior policy advisor for Nutrition."But we don't dictate the food that schools serveschool districts do.

I want to follow the money. Who are the owners for the one company that supplies every bit of that so-called prepackaged food to every school district in the company. Why is no one interested?
That doesn’t look healthy or appetizing.
Wake up, it is already being enforced.
I graduated from High School in 1956 and never heard of school lunches.
School days were nicely dived into two periods 9:00 to 12:00 and lunch was from 12:00 to 1:00 giving ample time to go home or visit a local eatery. the afternoon classes were from 1:00 until 4:00.
Today schools usually allocated 30 minutes or less to lunchtime.
By the way 25 cents would buy you a hamburger, bowl of chili and a soda pop, all through school prices remained the same.
First: re Bill Clinton... it is a rare wind that doesn’t blow in a predator.
Second: When I was in high school four other guys and I signed up for a girls Home Economics class. We were not predators; we had gorgeous women who enjoyed our company; Not a Bossy Holstein Hipped Cow amongst them..and we had all the food we could eat.
The “mystery meat” is clearly an enchilada, imo. With that in mind it actually looks pretty decent, but anything that’s composed in large part of refried beans and melted cheese is going to look rather gross if you’re not sure what you’re looking at.
I don’t doubt most of the food is disgusting, though!
The democrats spend so much effort telling people that killing children is a right. You’d think they wouldn’t put so much effort in telling you what to feed them if they survive their first encounter with a democrat.
“The mystery meat is clearly an enchilada, imo. “
But then, on the other hand, if it is not an enchilada ....
I don't want any gross lunch tossed into my lap.
Then it’s too horrible to contemplate!
