Over the past 20 years, whites and blacks have experienced opposite trends in segregation. Asians, Hispanics and blacks are moving into historically white neighborhoods. Vastly fewer whites live surrounded by just other white people. Whites look around and see multi-ethnic neighbors. They perceive expanded opportunity and integration because that is what they see. And they think everyone else is experiencing the same things.
But a Washington Post analysis of Census data shows that the experience in historically African American neighborhoods of major cities has been far different, as they have remained heavily isolated. Whites, Asians and Hispanics are not moving into those neighborhoods, and blacks who remain there experience persistent segregation.
Indeed, nearly all-white neighborhoods in big cities are now virtually extinct. Nearly all-black neighborhoods, on the other hand, are still commonplace.

They, (yeah I said “they”) move into nice areas/neighborhoods and bring their low life ways with them thus bringing down the nice areas they moved into. Sorta like those from hellhole countries moving here and not assimilating and bringing their third world ways with them.
What rational person would move into a ghetto or an area that’s becoming a ghetto? Neighborhoods can get turned around for sure but for the most part, a bad neighborhood stays that way and a good one becomes bad when certain diversity takes over.
I grew up in the city and “moved up” by moving out and into an affluent suburb. I’ve been noticing the change here in my affluent suburb...and it’s not “good change.” It’s starting to turn into what I left. I think it’s intentional. The affluent areas have to provide section 8 housing, school districts aren’t enforcing policy pertaining to living in the district=attending the school , and demographics are changing drastically.
Just watched Guiliani’s debate on some news show and he nailed it concerning the Ferguson situation as well as the total issue. Unfortunately, the host shut it down since he was winning the argument.
Exactly! Good point.
And once they start “contaminating” your neighborhood, they bring it down to their level.
Exactly. I think it’s what the democrat party has been orchestrating since LBJ and the Great Society.
“Vastly fewer whites live surrounded by just other white people. Whites look around and see multi-ethnic neighbors.”
The major fallacy to this whole “analysis” is that it doesn’t address the impact of white flight on “vastly fewer whites” being surrounded “by just other white people”. In other words, are most “multi-ethnic” neighborhoods simply the result of formerly all-white neighborhoods being hollowed out from fleeing whites and the whites left behind are simply too old and/or too poor to flee as well?
LOL! It’s a no win for white people either way. They refuse to address the real problem/issue and it’s easier blaming white people. It’s easier blaming middle class working people.
Excellent! Reminds me of how the school I taught at in the late 80s early 90s, and even the last decade where my kids attended high school. The blacks always self segregate. They choose to self segregate but that’s ok because they’re allowed to but if whites do it, it’s racist.
Haha! Right?
“Whites, Asians and Hispanics are not moving into those neighborhoods,”
No shit.
When the white come in the property taxes go up.
I had a similar experience with a black co-worker who lived in Markham IL. (Google it). I was young and stupid. He was a serious hard working guy. We used to grab beers after work. I told him I’d like to hang out with him some afternoon.
He got real quiet. “You wouldn’t make it home alive. It’d be much better if I came to your place.” So that’s what we did. It was very sad when he died of stomach cancer later. He was a decent man.

I won’t click on the link for WP. I’ll just say that over the last 20 years, what I have seen is that white neighborhoods have had people of color move in. Then, the whites start moving out and soon the neighborhood has no whites left.
Ferguson in the 1990s was 75% white. It’s much less than that now, and it wasn’t just due to black people moving in. After the current violence, how many white people will stay? For that matter, no one of any color, red, yellow, black or white will stay or move into the town, if they have half a brain.
Actions have consequences.
The liberal solution to make situations more fair is to make everyone miserable - except them of course because they are so much more intelligent and competent than the rest of us.
You can tell they are superior because they never work for the govt or NGOs but spend their lives growing businesses, searching for a cure for cancer, giving to charity etc. NOT
So it is segregation to avoid buying into a possibly hostile neighborhood?
Spike Lee ranted a year or so ago about white people (and hipsters) buying into the neighborhood he grew up in.
In Houston, Sheila Jackson Lee represents the Heights. There are 300k to 500k homes in there. Even her own staff hates her (least liked Representative).
Police may even profile you thinking you are in the neighborhood to buy sex or drugs.
It’s too obvious why. How can white families live in the city when you either have gangs pushing you out, your children are being harassed at school, your property values are going down, crime rates going up. So whites move out and then blacks complain that they’re “segregated” and whitey is keeping them down with no jobs, schools not getting enough funding, etc. don’t they realize they did it to themselves? In Chicago-land even moving to the burbs has made some of it inescapable because the mayor decided to tear down some of the public housing and spread them out to the burbs to live on section 8. Thankfully the few on my block don’t cause trouble (except for pot-dealing) but I hear the majority of his buyer’s are the older white people on the block lol. (myself not included.)
That sums it up in a nutshell.
When I was at SUNY & Stony Brook, a VERY politically liberal school, even though it’s best known for schools of physics, engineering, & medicine, there were rules against any sort of segregation, EXCEPT when it came to Blacks.
But it wasn’t the school that did the segregation, but the Black population. There were certain dorms (or floors) that the administration bent over backwards to accommodate the demands of the Black students to stay together. There was also a “Black fraternity” (I can’t recall the name), but while they couldn’t actually say “no whites allowed,” that was the general opinion.

There are certain cities, run by Blacks, “for Blacks,” that have become disasters. Detroit is probably the best example. Nagin’s “chocolate city” was interesting too...
