Business owners in the St. Louis, Missouri area have hired private military contractors to transport guns and gold, fearing their shops will be targeted by looters if a grand jury does not indict Darren Wilson, the police officer who shot and killed Michael Brown in the St. Louis County suburb of Ferguson.
"There's a lot of people that brought in a lot of money to have people secure their assets," said Stephen King, owner of Metro Shooting Supplies gun shop, a 15-minute drive from Ferguson. "Some of those people spent $10 an hour on security guards and some people have $1,000 a day private contractors."
King confirmed that gun shops in the area are hiring private military contractors to escort the transport of their guns to secure locations. A private military contractor who spoke to VICE News on condition of anonymity said that more than 300 private military contractors, or PMCs, have been contracted for work in direct response to Ferguson security concerns.
Jared Ogden, director of operations for Asymmetric Solutions, a private military contractor staffed by former special operations forces told VICE News his company was hired by businesses to transport "St. Louis-based company assets."
"We've got our hands in a bunch things" related to security in the Ferguson area, said Ogden, a former Navy SEAL who was featured on the National Geographic reality program, Survival Alaska.

As far as I am concerned, it is just two street gangs fighting it out.
Business owners (protecting their assets) are street gangs??
No question. Obama even said he's going to visit Ferguson.
It will not be a 'healing moment'.
Yeah, $10/hr. security guards will be doing the looting...
>> “I dont even know who to root for in this fight” <<
Why?
It seems to be as clear cut as any issue can be.
Do you believe in thug law?
Is mob intimidation ok by you?
By now you must see that RC one is not one of us.
.
We have some really strange vermin posting on this thread.
.
>> “This is the sort of thing people do in 3rd world countries.” <<

You mean places that have Kenyan muzzies as presidents?
.
They have already had some protests outside of Ferguson, and one was in downtown area. But there was the same violence that had erupted in Ferguson.
One of the responses to that was a peaceful March of John Q. Citizen displaying their 1st Amendment Rights of Open carry in Downtown. Thugs need to understand the message.
Agitators have their dream list of big businesses to target such as Anheisuer Bush.
Ferguson is to the rest of the County like a city block would be in a town of ten thousand people. It’s not isolated, and very likely to spread beyond one block.
Also, the city and county are two entirely separate government entities. Ferguson is part of the county system. Ferguson is not the county seat - that is elsewhere. Ferguson Community and St. Louis County Government are somewhat meshed, and henced natural targets for malcontents.
Betcha a beer. They already KNOW the outcome. They don’t put these kinds of assets out for a conviction. Just my humble .02
Popcorn and kegger at the ready.
It’s would be no problem in CA. Most all the smaller biz are owned by Muslims and the Mexican cartels who put the extended family into running their cash laundering scams.
They only hire their own anyway so it’s no big deal to get them to do it. Half are sleeping/living in the back anyway...
because I won’t cheerlead for the jackbooted thugs?
Vermin? For not being a fan boy of the jackbooted thugs? I think perhaps you have misjudged the concensus ciew around here.
i guess he is one of those people that can be can be comfortable anywhare
I agree, someone once asked me why I said we are not free and I replied that we cannot even own real estate. She looked at me like someone filled with the certain knowledge that she had just learned that I was a complete idiot. I told her that if she really thinks she owns real estate she should just stop paying the annual rent to the county and see what happens. I also told her that a deed to real estate is, in reality, only a long term lease guaranteeing the right to rent the property from the county as long as you don’t miss a rent payment. When you sell you are merely selling your lease. I don’t think she ever grasped my meaning though.
I remember a big hubbub years ago which occurred in California IIRC. People who had “owned” nice homes for many decades were finding themselves unable to pay the property taxes on their retirement income so they had to find a buyer or lose the place to the county. One government representative who was asked about it said something to the effect that these people just needed to face the facts, they could no longer afford to live where they had been living. Imagine that, you pay a mortgage for decades and then when you no longer have a mortgage you cannot afford to pay the damned taxes to stay there. Worse yet, the property taxes go to pay for public schools to teach the children to hate America and to promote gay “marriage”.
There is zero evidence that the officer is a “jack booted thug.”
He was doing his basic job, and was attacked.
And no, I do not normally jump up in defense of police in shootings. I find your position WRT this event disturbing.
You have trouble with reality.
You can’t think about something unless it fits one of your boxes.
I am fully aware of LE abuses, but the majority of them are still doing their jobs right. Don’t help push them over the edge.
If it wasn’t for the aforementioned pattern of abuses by countless other LEOs across the country, the whole Michael Brown/Daren Wilson thing never would have made it past the back page of the local newspaper. They have created their own image problem. That is the reality.
Wrong.
The lion’s share of the image is carefully crafted by the Mediots.
They want to divide us and you are chortling for joy.
.
I’m not playing along with the good cop bad cop routine anymore. We are not always given the luxury of judging everybody on an individual basis. I don’t know where you get the idea that I’m “chortling for joy” about this when I have repeatedly stated that I am simply not interested in taking a side in this. that’s hardly chortling for joy. The fact is, I find it all rather depressing and am definitely not joyous about it in any capacity.
