JUDY WOODRUFF, PBS NEWSHOUR: Well, it lets look at those.
You have already got some Republicans. Its only two weeks almost since the midterms. You have already got Republicans out there talking about whether theyre going to or people talking about whether theyre going to run, whether its Jeb Bush. John Kasich won by 30 points in the state of Ohio, won reelection.
Are we beginning, David, to see the shape of who may run on the Republican side? We know, on the Democratic side, Jim Webb, the former United States senator from Virginia, formed an exploratory committee.
DAVID BROOKS: Right. Right.
JUDY WOODRUFF: I dont know how much a threat you think he is to Hillary Clinton.
DAVID BROOKS: Right.
Well, on the Republican side, the great and the good are hoping for Jeb Bush, very pro-immigration, by the way. And I think he would
RUTH MARCUS: Jeb Bush.
DAVID BROOKS: If he runs, he would be strong.
John Kasich has been undertalked about. He is knows Washington very well, was a senior budget official, a congressman. He has been a very successful governor, very popular, won by huge margins in the swingiest of the swing states, has strong connections in among religious conservatives, is just quirky enough for a country thats kind of angry, but just establishment enough for a country that doesnt want a crazy person.

My liberal friends have one Republican they just love - George HW Bush. Know why? Because he was totally ineffectual (with the exception of managing the fall of Communism and the Berlin Wall which Reagan’s policies brought about), threw away the Reagan Revolution, stood for nothing, in truth disliked conservatives, and lost the election to Clinton in what was an even worse campaign for reelection than Carter’s. His son Jeb is even worse than he was - when you get the in-house “conservatives” at the NY Times (Brooks, who is liberal as any) and EJ Dionne at the Washington Post touting his candidacy, you know he is NOT the choice of the conservative wing of the party, which provides about 80 percent of its support. Kind of like your enemies advising on the most beneficial course you can take - you do exactly the opposite if you care about your self-interest because they don’t.
Any Republican supporting Jeb Bush has a death wish.
Thanks “Our Miss Brooks”. Your ringing endorsement of Jeb is the kiss of death. Even though Bush the Elder once supposedly ran the GOP, the Bush family is allied with
itself and not the Republican Party. As the great and good moral icon the Rev Jesse Jackson once exclaimed “Stay out da Bushes!”.
What David Brooks thinks about who the GOP nominee should be is about as relevant as a half drunk glass of beer left on the table to go flat ad full of dead flies. People like Obama boot licker David Brooks should not even be heard from as far as the GOP nominee is concerned.
I wish we could tax the uber rich elites such as Soros, Gates, Buffet, Tom Steyer too. However, they are international and they can hide and shelter their income & wealth anywhere.
The idea of the fascist-communists is to suppress competition by taxing the nouveau riche. The uber rich don’t want any competition in business or politics from the upstarts. These globalists want an oligarchy for themselves. Once the global oligarchy is established, they will start killing each other (and everyone else) off like good little demons.
Well then 2016 is Ground Zero for conservatives. If Bush or Christie get the nomination I don’t want hear the same whining and complaining from our side. It’ll mean we didn’t work hard enough and we split our votes again amongst several conservative candidates. We need to coalesce behind one candidate and one alone. When Gingrich and Santorum were trading wins in the early primaries and caucuses in 2012 I knew Romney was going to be the nominee because the conservative vote was split. That can’t happen again or else we end up with another RINO and another presidential loss.
Fools better start paying attention to internet postings, Tubby Bush aint gonna win.
IF they deliberately want to LOSE run Tubby.
DAVID BROOKS: “Right. Well, on the Republican side, the great and the good are hoping for Jeb Bush, .. “.
Everything great is not always good, but all good things are great. Demosthenese
Gee, I’m not smart enough to support someone as great as the latest Bush, JEB.
I’ll settle for someone good, like Rafael Edward “Ted” Cruz. GOP-e can KMA!
Well, this obviously makes me neither great nor good.
Brooks just keeps getting weirder.
“On The Republican Side, The Greedy And The Multinational Are Hoping For Jeb Bush, and corporate internationalism.”
“Ladies and gentlemen, our corporate anthem.”

David must really want to see the Rats win in 2016.
If the GOP-E pushes JEB! for 2016, then we will know for certain that the GOP-E is nothing more than than the loyal cronies of the democrats, and
that the US has come under rule of a mexican style socialist oligarchy.
As of late, obama has proven the the rule of law is dead in the US, and that the states will capitulate to the whims of the feds in DC, so long as the big players in the states get to feed at the fed trough.
Welcome to America 2.0, the socialist, progressive version.
Of the Wilson, the Roosevelts, Clinton, the Bushes, and Obama - “Something evil this way slouches”.
If David Brooks thinks this country won’t elect a “crazy person”, how come this country elected Obama TWICE? They don’t come any crazier(and more evil) than Obama.
“Low testosterone Republicans”
Love it!!! LTR’s!!!!
I say no to ALL the GOPe candidates (Bush, Walker, Christie, Kasich), and I say YES to Ted Cruz!
