House Republicans sue Obama administration over health care law

House Republicans sued the Obama administration on Friday over its implementation of President Barack Obama's health care law, saying he had overstepped his legal authority in carrying out the program.

GOP lawmakers filed the lawsuit in federal district court in Washington the morning after Obama announced unilateral executive actions to expand protections for millions of immigrants who came to the U.S. illegally. While Republicans complained that Obama had unconstitutionally exceeded his powers with those actions, the suit filed Friday did not address immigration.

One Republican official said party leaders are considering amending the suit to include Obama's actions on immigration, a change that would require approval by the GOP-controlled House. The official spoke on condition of anonymity to describe internal Republican deliberations.

There is a “kicking the can down the road” quality to this action. They do this, then immediately go on vacay. Grow a spine repubs and DO something.

This is disgusting. The Constitution provides the means for Congressional dealings with recalcitrant Presidents.

This is the way a bunch of wimps would handle it.

I read the whole article - don’t know what I said in my post that made you think I didn’t. I was merely responding to one who was upset because the current suit did not reference the latest illegal EO about illegals. Kind of ironic how Pelosi slams the GOP for using the courts to try to accomplish what they can’t do legislatively - her side of the aisle fine-tuned and perfected that avenue.

Impeachment would take place in the House, but that would be useless if the Senate did not convict.

I would bet that they are thinking right now how they can do both - which is what this country needs.

The Senate needs to be on board or else it is a completely wasted effort.

My point is that this is a lawsuit by one branch of the government against another not by the Republican party.

The press tries to illegitimize any action by the Republican controlled House by saying that it is simply an action by a bunch of Republicans and not by a branch of the government that happens to be controlled by a majority of Republicans.

When Harry Reid pushes something through the Senate on a purely partisan vote the headline is never “Senate Democrats” do something. It is always “Senate acts.” When Obamanation does something the headline is never “Democrat President” does something it is always “President acts.”

In this case the House is acting. The fact that the minority part voted lockstep against it is irrelevant. If the Democrats want to control what actions the House takes they need to win a lot more elections next time.

So very true. The pubs are always a day late and guilty not being true to their conservative base. I somestimes get the evil feeling that they are actually in cahoots with the atheist dems, fems and homosexual activists which control and manipulate the communist democrat party.

The GOP grabbed the headlines back by immediately suing the president to get the very unpopular ACA back in the news.

Not a bad move IMO to keep Obama from crowing for weeks about amnesty.
