“Dualistic Thinking in the Animal Protection Movement: A Problem for Sentience Based Accounts”
January 31, 2014 by Cheryl Abbate
Dualistic thinking is perhaps the antithesis to both feminist theory and nonhuman animal ethics.
We are familiar with a number of dualisms that infest Western patriarchal thinking: male/female; man/woman; mind/body; reason/emotion; white/other races; culture; nature; human/nature; human/animal. Through these sorts of dualisms, contrived hierarchies of power are established, where those at the top are viewed as superior and dominating while their opposites are granted an inferior or marginalized status. Carol Adams refers to the distinctions provided by dualistic thinking as A and not A; on the A side, there is men, mind, reason, white, culture, human beings, and so forth, while on the Not A side, there is women, body, emotion, black, nature, and animal.
Here is what a number of other influential thinkers have to say about dualisms:..............”
I’m so tired of these insane women.
In their zeal to attack the “patriarchy” they’ve done nothing but to undermine the strength of the Western society that has made their safe, comfortable lives possible.
They’re not gonna like how this could end.
I've heard this about the GAY citizenry.
PhD student? Masters in philosophy? That is some kindergarten level philosophy right there. No real concept of what dualism is, and no grounding to the thesis. Just some incoherent babbling, fueled by liberal talking points, and disguised in big words.
infest Western patriarchal thinking-————
That is an automatic stopping point for this patriarch.
