On immigration, the GOP primary will have little room for nuance
Obama's announcement could affect 2016's probable candidates
President Obama on thursday announced his much-anticipated executive action on immigration, and in doing so he lobbed a grenade squarely into the 2016 Republican primary race.
...
Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush upset the rank and file earlier this year by calling for a compassionate aspproach to immigration. In April, he said undocumented workers who enter the country illegally do so as "an act of love" because they "are actually coming to this country to provide for their families." Then there's New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who in January broke with the national party and signed a state-level version of the DREAM act. Like Bush, he framed his support for reform through the lens of strengthening families.
... it's worth revisiting Texas Gov. Rick Perry's (R) short-lived 2012 campaign. ... his signature on a bill granting in-state tuition to illegal immigrants left him vulnerable on the right. In one memorable debate, Perry's opponents formed an unspoken alliance and took turns whooping him over that law. Even the humorless Mitt Romney snuck in some jabs, and Perry crumbled.

Democrats, the party of “unintended consequences”. This is the closest thing to a silver lining we’ve had this week. Ted Cruz and Scott Walker will be fine as long as they keep track of their moral compass. In two years, what’s left of this nation will be ready to lick the boots of anyone who isn’t trying to have everything both ways.
How would this be a bad thing? Do we need to send a "thank you" note to Obama?
"Vote for us or your Obama-amnestied cousins get deported".
That would probably be enough to guarantee Florida and Virginia again go Blue.
Game over.
So how will the geniuses in the GOP leadership play that game? By passing an immigration law, with mostly Democrat votes, to legalize Obama's amnesty and to "take the issue off the table" for 2016.
Game over. Nation over.
Agreed, this will be, or should be, the litmus test for any candidate—revoke amnesty, revoke any dream act, revoke drivers licenses, etc.
This court case if it succeeds will wipe out the grant monies IA’s get to go to college. this case already made it past the TX Supreme Court. It just awaits the trial at district court in Houston.

Probably the only unqualified good done by Benit0bama in his entire overwhelmingly disgraceful public career.
Jeb Bush, Chris Christie, Rick Perry - all finished for 2016.
Thank God!
Good. I’m sick of these moderate (RINO) Republicans running for president!
If that’s true, then it’s the first good thing Obama has done, that I can remember.
Ted Cruz should be asked too.
I doubt we have ANY potential nominee that will say anything besides legalize them.
If that's the case, I'll not be voting for them even the general.
It'll be time to burn it all down and start over.
“Walker has been weak on amnesty also.”
EXCLUSIVE — GOV. SCOTT WALKER: I DON’T SUPPORT AMNESTY
“Game over. Nation over.”
Hey, DU troll.
Do yourself and us a favor and dig a hole and bury yourself. We don’t need loser surrender monkeys like you on FR.
Makes no difference, no difference at all. The “read my lips” Gang will never allow self perception interruption of their vector.
In this case however, just as with Extortion Exempt-Care, the backfire will again be back on them as their planned 5 million starting paradigm will Changeling from taxes into EBT-STAMP cards, that’s for those that will even comply to register “your papers please.”
I disagree. Barring a collpse of the economy or some real foreign policy problem (both of which are quite possible under Barry I), this issue will be the most important one of the campaign. Remember, after the '86 immigration bill, illegal immigration exploded. I believe that the same will happen in the next couple of years, and with increasing speed as Barry I's term comes to a close and fear of the EO being rescinded grows. More immigration = more crime, more disease, more welfare, more state and local problems with school and medical costs, etc.
It isn't going away, its first getting warmed up.
I hope that the article is right about Bush and Kristie Kreme.
This is distinctly good for Cruz.
G-d works in mysterious ways, folks. Imagine the odds of Barry I doing something to benefit his exact ideological/political opposite!
