U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder appears in a video today on the Department of Justice website, urging police restraint in Ferguson, Missouri, where unarmed teen [drink] Michael Brown was killed by police officer Darren Wilson, and protester/rioters are waiting for the starting gun.
The video is titled: "MAINTAINING PUBLIC SAFETY WHILE SAFEGUARDING CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS"
In part of the video, Holder says:
"It is vital to engage in planning and preparation, from evaluating protocols and training to choosing the appropriate equipment and uniforms," Holder says to law enforcement officials in the video. "This is the hard work that is necessary to preserve the peace and maintain the public trust at all times particularly in moments of heightened community tension."
Over the past few months, weve seen demonstrations and protests that have sought to bring attention to real and significant underlying issues involving police practices, implicit bias, and pervasive community distrust. And in most cases, these demonstrations have been both meaningful and responsible, and have brought vital issues to the attention of the public at large. Similarly, the vast majority of law enforcement officers have honorably defended their fellow citizens engaged in these peaceful protests."
I know, from first-hand experience, that demonstrations like these have the potential to spark a sustained and positive national dialogue, to provide momentum to a necessary conversation, and to bring about critical reform."
But history has also shown us that the most successful and enduring movements for change are those that adhere to non-aggression and nonviolence. And so I ask all those who seek to lend their voice to important causes and discussions, and who seek to elevate these vital conversations, to do so in a way that respects the gravity of their subject matter."
This morning, the DOJ issued new guidelines to safeguard civil rights 'while maintaining public safety' new guidelines and distributed them to law enforcement associations, U.S. attorneys offices, and local law-enforcement email lists.

Holder wasn’t this ‘concerned’ when he had the Feds go after Cliven Bundy.

Not exactly the same content, but quite close.
Holder is Obama’s “sock Puppet”
And that makes all the difference. [/sarc]
I thought Holder retired?
He has Frankenstein’s monster on his hands, not that I believe he cares. His disingenuous calls for “non-aggression” are just a figleaf to cover his azz when the monster goes full-on berserk, and I don’t believe for a minute that he doesn’t know it, or that he cares.
He announced it in order to try to take the spotlight off of himself, to try to become “irrelevant” to the investigations being conducted, such as they are. But he’s forging full steam ahead with everything he already planned to do.
Simple solution. The PD respond with what ever force is necessary to disperse the crowd if, er, when they become violent and keep the streets safe.
For weeks I thought his middle name was Unarmed, pronounced oo-NAR-med.
He announced he’ll retire as soon as his successor is confirmed.
What is it about safeguarding Constitutional rights that you don’t understand?
The positive dialogue we’re having is how racist racial hucksters like Holder are destroying America and we need to take action to stop guys like Holder from lying for his own benefit to the black community.
Yup. Not a “let’s have a dialogue” line from anyone in the White House. It was “the law is the law. You have to do what we say or else.”
How about some restraint on the part of the “protesters”?
...Holder urges police restraint in Ferguson?????
Who’s going to restrain the protesters? You are correct the Feds didn’t concern Holder with Bundy....but then consider....
