Add Procter & Gamble to the ever-growing list of companies to openly support marriage equality.
The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that the Ohio-based consumer products giant has taken a public stand on same-sex marriage in what P&G's Chief Global Diversity Officer William Gipson describes as "statement of support for our employees."
Added Chief Legal Officer Deborah P. Majoras: "We have always supported our employees and fostered a culture of inclusion and respect -- this includes the right to marry whomever they choose and to have that union legally recognized."
This is the first time that P&G has gone on the record to back same-sex marriage, but the company has had a solid track record of supporting the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, the Cincinnati Business Courier points out.
The Fortune 500 company -- which comprises brands including Pantene, Crest and Tide -- has been a sponsor of the Cincinnati Pride parade since 2011 and began including LGBT-specific anti-discrimination language in an employment statement in 1992, according to the report.
The move has received praise from a number of LGBT rights organizations, including the Human Rights Campaign....

Why don’t they focus on making products?
So P & G is full of sexual deviants too? Geez. What’s happening to this country?
“number of LGBT rights organizations, including the Human Rights Campaign”
Whose founder was just arrested for molesting a 15 year old boy.
A stock market crash might be amusing at this point, just to watch these sick companies go belly-up.
Sorry, I am a capitalism fan and support businesses, but mega corporations like this one make their living lobbying for special perks to screw over smaller companies, as well as endorsing perversion. They can go to hell.
Hey P&G.. you say you’re doing this out of support for your sodomite employees, but how about supporting your non-pervert employees?
“statement of support for our employees
You can support your employees without endorsing perversion.
You have done that for decades. Nothing has changed. It is still a perversion and you you are wriong in supporting it.
You make too many products for me to aviod them all but I will try my best. I am sick and tired of being forced to accept something so wrong because everyone wants to be PC. Well I don’t. I have no need too.
“Chief Global Diversity Officer” says it all.
I hate what corporate America has morphed into.
yep
So noted.
I see Duracell is on there. I think Warren Buffett just bought it to have for his own company, if I’m not mistaken. So it’s okay to purchase (I hope).
Of course they back gay marriage. PG’s CEO, peesident whatever the nomme du jour is came out as an avowed satanist MANY years ago.
Got any links?
Certainly the lie that “all corporations are conservative because they are capitalists” has ben debunked by now.
Numerous corporations have had political reeducation programs (labeled diversity training and other things) for decades now.
A cancer eats away at our nation from within.
“Chief Global Diversity Officer” = Tovarisch Zampolit.
“this includes the right to marry whomever they choose and to have that union legally recognized.”
And if they choose to marry their child, its OK? legal pedophilia? Can a child marry a parent? why not? what’s unnatural about anything anymore?
I retired from there last year and all the years I worked for them we never had gay anything pushed on us. It was never mentioned. We were taught to respect ALL individuals and no particular class of people was ever mentioned as having ‘special’ rights. We had prayer cards on every desk in the building and were allowed to openly pray for sick co-workers during our morning meetings if it was requested.
I was a Team Leader with a crew under me. P&G paid for me to go back and finish college. You will never find a company more generous to their employees. They expect a lot in return but give a lot to get and keep top notch people.
P&G is also generous in the local, nationwide, and even worldwide communities.
Not so with Gillette. We were forced into diversity training annually with Gillette and nothing religious was allowed in the building. That didn’t go over well in the South. Gillette also had a tuition reimbursement program but it was a battle each semester to get reimbursed. They seldom paid anything without a fight.
I retired when we transitioned to rotating 10-12 hour shifts. That is the normal for P&G plants but it was put off for ours for a few years. I did it for a year and decided to let the younger folks have it. :-) I worked day shift for 36 years and couldn’t handle the swing shift. I have been treated like a queen in retirement with affordable retiree insurance benefits and other perks.
I found P&G to be a good moral company the years I worked for them and I can’t see this changing their core beliefs. I believe that it is a continuance of their ‘treat everybody with respect’ policy but since the policies have never been really made public, people don’t realize how respectful the core beliefs of P&G are.
Not that I agree with what P&G is doing...
They simply are being smart business people...
They now are immune from the homosexual Nazi like stormtroopers who will demonize a great company for not being PC....
This isn’t surprising at all. They’ve been supportive of “gay rights” for a number of years.
Finished. Done. Over. All that's left is the mopping up.
