Harry Reid: Good Luck Trying to Undo Executive Amnesty

Outgoing Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) argues that despite the fact that President Obama’s executive amnesty will not have the force of law, it would be very difficult for another president to rescind.

“This is something that is fair and the right thing to do,” Reid said on Thursday. “They have the opportunity at some later time, some president to say, ‘I want this all changed.’ I wish that person luck to try to tell these millions of people and their families -- who many at that time will have many, many more United States citizens -- are going to be pretty hard to rescind what this first step is.”

Reid called the scope of the executive amnesty -- expected to encompass some 5 million illegal immigrants -- “pretty good.”

I hate to agree with Harry Reid on anything - but he is right.

Once the genie (the illegals) is released from the bottle (fear of deportation), it will be damned near impossible to put it back in the bottle.

Any attempt to force deportations will be treated (by the Dems and the MSM) as something akin to the rounding up of Jews by the Nazis.

Without a VETO PROOF majority, what do you expect them to do? At 59 votes, that is not enough to pass the legislature in todays’ Senate. AFTER January 2015, when Republicans are sworn in, then they can pass bills...but will need 67 votes to have a veto proof majority... even then. So as long as ZERO is President, it will take 67 votes to override him.

Reid means it's illegal for the President to order his staff to ignore the law (he uses less harsh words but the meaning is the same) but once its done those people will never ever ever ever be removed. Ever.

Even if another president comes along, a lawful president, and says "that order saying to ignore the law is rescinded. Go get them" there will be 5 million sob stories about "these two loving gays who face terrible persecution in Mexico got married here and now their blended family with four adopted children will be ripped apart!" and "Luisa just wants to work as maid to support her three handicapped children but now she's going to lose her job and her family because of this evil president" stories.

And he implies that before it's all said and done, these people will get citizenship and voting rights which will make it even harder. You watch, that's next. Unfair to leave them here as second class citizens.
