BOCA RATON, Fla. Texas Gov. Rick Perry said the Lone Star State might sue Barack Obamas administration over the presidents planned executive order to grant relief to as many as 5 million undocumented immigrants.
I think thats probably a very real possibility, Perry said during a panel here at the Republican Governors Associations annual meeting.
Perry, who is considering another presidential bid in 2016, said the cost of illegal immigration is extraordinary. He said his state spends $12 million a month on securing the border.
Perry remarked that state Attorney General Greg Abbott, who was recently elected governor, has described his current job like this: I go to the office, I sue Obama and I go home.
Please, God. If Gov. Perry were to do this, I’d support him for president.
IANAL or expert but I thought similar cases have already been filed and lost, e.g. states want reimbursement for healthcare expenses. Not sure what would be novel about perry’s suit. Courts can’t force any agency to use its discretion.
I am really very displeased with the wimpy action taken by Congress. The courts are not the proper medium for this, imo. Courts don’t want to mediate political fights.
But the GOP is just Democrat light. So they won’t really do anything of significance either to try to stop it, or retaliate. And retaliate is really all they can do, such as stripping away money from the executive branch. No more travel, reduced budgets, cut cut cut. They would want to protect their power by sending a clear message to future presidents. But they won’t.
states can apply to the Supreme court for an emergency injunction to stop this unconstitutional executive amnesty order. or we can get one of our state attorney generals to do it as in the attorney general of Texas.
Texas hope-it-happens ping.
Interesting comment.
Can you say more or point to a good reference to read?
OBAMAS UNCONSTITUTIONAL AMNESTY TO MIGRANTS THAT ARE LIVING ILLEGALLY IN THE U.S.A.
After destroying the best health care system in the world, Obama is determined to grant wide amnesty to foreigners living illegally in U.S. If Obama wants to make the U.S. into another banana republic, it seems he is well underway to reaching his goal.
The Republicans must make it perfectly clear that Obama has declared a merciless war against the American workers and the middle class of America. There are 92 million of able Americans out of the work force because they cannot find employment and Obama wants to legalize and give work permits to over 11 million illegal aliens allowing them to bring here the rest of their families. In other words, another 25 or 30 million that either will compete with Americans and legal immigrants searching for scarce jobs or are going to be added to welfare, bankrupting Medicaid and the food stamp system as well as ruining even more the quality of the public schools with the massive infuse of hundreds of thousands of children without speaking English to already overburdened schools systems.
Sure didn’t take the haters long to show up!
Might sue, defund, impeach, they don’t do much of anything except attack the few that do try to do something. mCconnell has already given up the one strategy that may work because it would give credibility to Senator Cruz and the few that stood with him, mConnell has no credibility. Why would I believe Rick Perry, he hired henry barbour.
That' all he ever does. And with some "conservatives", it works.

As I asked on another post. I thought there needed to be 2/3rds of the senate to vote in favor of throwing him out. If true, how do you get over the fact there are still 46 democrat senators who will vote against the motion?
Attorney General Greg Abbott, who was recently elected governor, has described his current job like this: I go to the office, I sue Obama and I go home.
Love Abbott

Agreed. He is determined to destroy this country. That is, and has been, the plan from the beginning.

The lawsuit is to bill Obama the cost of the NG troops on the border.
Texas already has over 30 lawsuits against the feds now.
