WASHINGTON (AP) — The world still isn't close to preventing what leaders call a dangerous level of man-made warming, a new United Nations report says. That's despite some nations' recent pledges to cut back on carbon dioxide emissions.
The report looks at the gap between what countries promise to do about carbon pollution and what scientists say needs to be done to prevent temperatures rising another two degrees. The two-degree level is a goal that world leaders set in 2009.
"The time window (for reaching that goal) is closing, closing," said United Nations undersecretary for environment Achim Steiner. And the cost of getting to that goal "is increasing, increasing."

When the ENTIRE UN Staff goes Carbon Negative for 18 months, I will stop and listen to what they have to say.
If they shift all of their various Headquarters to Chad, CAR or Yemen I will listen in 16 months.
If ALL of their Conferences and various Assemblages of High Muckety-Mucks are held in towns of 100,000 population, elevation less than 2,000 feet located within 15 degrees of the Equator AND the first two conditions are met, I will listen in 12 months.
Just so they all don’t die of heat stroke, they can take a break in villages in North Korea, Nov-Feb, as long as there are no facilities for the military brass or the Communist Party elite and the population is less than 5,000.

BTW, it rained here quite heavily a month ago, and then there was a light frost on the ground the next morning. Then we’ve had record-breaking lows for the last few days. I’m pretty sure all of this has been caused by climate change. Who should I report this to?

Anything he writes about this topic is pure propaganda. He has no credibility as either a journalist or scientist. The fact he now writes for AP shows how desperately far it has fallen as an objective news source.

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy.
As for the UN, what do you expect when you put anti-semites and petty tyrants in charge of something.
You put your finger on the REAL concern - that the UN was not going to get its “greedy fingers” on our money.
In any scenario of gloom and doom, follow the money to find out who is pushing the line of disaster, and how they would benefit from “averting” said disaster.
It has happened millions of times, but people do exaggerate to emphasize a point.

Does the UN building in New York have HEAT?? WHY?? Can’t we have it permanently DISCONNECTED, they obviously don’t need it anymore with the Planet on Fire likr they claim. they could go outside and enjoy the Global Warming that way.
Can somebody arrange a trip for these bozos to the Amazon basin and point out the richest and most varied ecosystem on the planet? Oh, and leave them there?
The depth of the stupidity of our rulers is unfathomable. Remember when the U.N. decided to shut down the A/C there on the weekends in 2008? Ever wonder how long it lasted? Probably until the first batch of computers had to be replaced and/or until they walked in to an unbearably hot building on Monday morning.

I’m a systems engineer and it drives me absolutely crazy when the “Smart, Concerned” people pick a single piece of a complex system and determine they can ‘fix’ it. They make as much sense as sacrificing virgins to ensure the sun comes up in the morning.....

They are not crazy. They have different assumptions about reality than we do.
They see nothing wrong with lying if it advances their cause. The biggest sin that they have is getting caught, and then, only if it leads to failure.
The have no problem with lying about global warming or “climate change” because they think it necessary to concentrate power in the hands of well meaning technocrats.
They do not admit that the technocrats have agendas of their own that can be more destructive than any evil they claim to control.
Perhaps we can say they are crazy, but only if we posit that believing that power is the only thing that matters is crazy.
I say it is closer to evil than crazy.
What the UN actually said is: “We are lunatic luddite assholes with little to no knowledge of basic physics or science of any kind and anything we say about climate should be ignored.” A translation issue.
