When I spank my child, it does not change the fact that the furniture was broken due to his/her poor judgement; neither does it fix said furniture.
Impeachment/conviction removes him from office... there aren’t any other sanctions in it.
It’s not like spanking a rebellious child. It’s like disowning him.
Punishment is prosecution in a court of law.
Impeachment is not punishment. Impeachment is removal of a person from Office to protect the country (or state, etc) from their misuse of authority and the endangerment they pose.
