If I use amazon, I don't get the product right away. On the plus side, I don't have to travel to Walmart and deal with the walmartians.

Bingo.

Standing in line at Wal-Mart is a giant giant pain in the butt.

I used to never go to Wal-Mart, preferring Target for discount shopping.

But since Target endorsed sodomy, I haven’t gone there.

Will they play the game that other retailers have? The it’s not the same exact product number even though it’s the exact same product game?

Amazon is often NOT cheaper than Walmart, for the same Chinese-made crap.

As a Prime member, though, they are so much more convenient.

"...deal with the walmartians. "

Depends on the demographics or the WM location. I've found many WalMart Stores to be excellent for offerings and staff.

Others not so much. WalMart supposedly pioneered fine tuning their individual store offerings to the local situation. A better local situation is highly correlated with their better stores.

I use Amazon subscriptions for a lot of our needs when I can find them at outrageously low prices and I get free shipping. Stuff like Poor Man’s Blend coffee, demura raw sugar chunks, matzos, the old Noxzema menthol shaving cream, shampoo, soap, the British version of Sunshine Golden Raisin Biscuits, Coastal Atlantic French Sea Salt, and other snobby hard to find things we like but can’t find in regular stores.Won’t find that stuff at Walmart.

You don’t have to go to Walmart. You can order online, and it wil be delivered to your door. They are usually quicker than Amazon.

Not paying the 9.5% sales tax is a real plus for me too.

I really hate going to Walmart and waiting in those long checkout lines while they have 20 unused checkout lanes.

Other stores open up additional checkouts if the lines get too long. The Walmarts around me dont.

I absolutely HATE Walmart, I would rather order on-line and wait for it than to have wait in one of the few lines that are open.

I don’t care how cheap the Wal-Mart prices are, I’m not going back there until they institute a dress code for their customers. So many people that go there dress like slobs.

“On the plus side, I don’t have to travel to Walmart and deal with the walmartians. “

On the plus side, you don’t have to travel at all, and in most states don’t have to pay sales tax either.

Walmart’s online presentation sucks. The format is their problem IMO. If they’d clean it up, and make it more interesting I’d think more people would shop their online site.

Not a Walmart fan. I always feel as though I'm shopping with a trainload of whores and bums. Honestly, since when it is appropriate to be seen in public in filthy pajamas or lamp-post attire?

We have a used book store, McKay's, that is amazing. Even best-sellers show up almost immediately. I can spend hours in there.

Also... and this was shocking, at least to me... Goodwill has an excellent selection of books for next to nothing. Plus they offer a military discount. I've even found good clothing buys... some with the tags still on them.

My local (rural small town) WM is an excellent store.
Invariably neat, clean, and staffed predominantly by locals who might otherwise not find gainful employment due to age, family responsibilities, etc.

The grocery section is second to none in our area, mgmt. has price-matched quite a number of items for me over the years, and the excellent pharmacy staff refills my heart Rx for $4/mo.

All the shopping carts are new, parking is ample, well-lighted and maintained, and site-to-store purchases generally arrive as quickly as Amazon without my having to pay $80/yr.

Then again, this area is far enough from any urban shitholes to still be civilized.
Perhaps that's not the case in your location.

I'm glad they're here.

The Home Depot manager matched the best price I could find on line for a new stainless gas grill.

“We match competitors’ prices”. Big deal. If I find a price that is lower than WM or any other store, why should I go back there and get the same price? I’ll buy it at the first store who has a lower price for the same item.

Offer me 10% less and perhaps it’s a different story.

Walmart won’t even match their OWN prices. You can buy a product online and pick it up in 2 hours at your local Walmart...but if you go in the store, the prices are higher.....and they will not match the online price. Really dumb.
