Sen. Mitch McConnell made a clear statement Thursday: There will be no government shutdown. The Kentucky Republican, who will take over as majority leader in January, renewed his vow not to shut down the federal government as conservatives in his party called for fighting the presidents immigration proposals through spending legislation.
Some Republicans in Congress are arguing that if President Barack Obama moves forward with his promise to sign executive orders addressing immigration, the GOP should attach language to spending bills that would undo the actions. Congress must pass a spending bill by Dec. 11 to prevent another government shutdown.
We will not be shutting the government down or threatening to default on the federal debt, McConnell said Thursday at a press conference when asked about Republican calls for attaching extra provisions to the spending bill.
What will Republicans in Congress do if Obama moves forward? Well let you know, McConnell replied.

You are a GOP apologist. You still think it's the '50s and the Pubs are conservative.
Smell the coffee. Your party is taken over by liberals.
It's time to dump all the liberals (Dem, Communist, and Republican) and start voting conservative.

The surrender caucus in the U.S. Senate, ready to roll.
You wound not know a conservative if you kissed one. Not yet anyway...
The new Governor is a REAL conservative.
The GOP-E didn't like him in the primary.
I know conservative, and just because some liberal has an R by his name, doesn't make him conservative.
I wouldn't ever vote for someone that had the power to stop a 51% vote on abortion, and didn't stop that vote.
That would be supporting abortion in my book.
/johnny
It’s time to put pressure on those up for re-election in 2016.
Once again, did Mitch ever support abortion?
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss...
Did we get fooled again?
I don’t either. If I don’t have a strong candidate to vote for, I do a write in. The conservatives need to stand together / don’t turn on each other now; the liberal republicans have to be put in the minority until we can get most of that kind of thinking voted out.
Quite easy to understand. McConnell and Beohner are rabid Statists.
McConnell and Beohner are much much closer to Reid's political philosophy than they are to Cruz's.
It is a FACT that McConnell and Boehner absolutely loathe Conservatives and the Tea Party. Their actions now and in the future will reflect their loathing.
Republicans would say no, since they never look at critical cloture votes, and are generally low-information voters.

buncha frenchpublicans. their new symbol is the elephant waving a white flag.
McConnell is being open with his Statism.
See my post #89 above.
I don't have to like the guy personally, or anything else. Just that list.
Miss one, and the answer is no. I check cloture votes. ;)

Maybe it ain’t gonna be up to Mitch.
“Read my lips” (RICO) Exempt Ones.
(And we see the coming access of the Extortion-Care Lobby to everyone, but the Exempt Ones, tax information)
Is that your Karl Rove? What a disgusting comment.
Knowing what we now know, would any Conservative disagree with the fact that it would have been wise for Conservatives to vote for the RAT over McConnell?
Karl Rove, the GOPe, McConnell and Boehner are just as evil as Obama.
The simple fact that they hardly ever oppose the Marxist's Republic destroying actions makes them fully complicit.
JRandom, you are obviously arguing with an arrogant, anti-Constitutional GOPe puke.
I too loathe the GOPe and will never again cast a vote for the evil RINOs.
I loathe anyone who says that vote Party over Country.
/johnny
I don’t mind being corrected, but did they vote for abortion? Ir ssems nobody whats to answer that head on.
By my count, twelve new GOP Senators were elected during this cycle -- three replacements and nine new seats (counting LA).
How many of these twelve might be inclined to align with the "Cruz Caucus"?
Sasse (NE)
Ernst (IA)
Daines (MT)
Cotton (AR)
Sullivan (AK)
Lankford (OK)
Cassidy (LA)
Tellis (NC)
Rounds (SD)
Perdue (GA)
Gardner (CO)
Capito (WV)
Three? Four?
