There was strong opposition to Medicare before it went in to effect in 1965, but after that, the health program for seniors quickly became an accepted and even popular part of the U.S. medical system.
Supporters of the Affordable Care Act, President Obamas bold health reform law, often highlight the similarity to Medicare in terms of initial opposition. But Obamacare, as the ACA is known, is hardly catching on like Medicare did (at least not yet). In fact, the law suddenly seems more threatened than at any time since it was passed in 2010, and its now possible the whole unwieldy program could collapse.
Three things happened during the first 10 days of November that amount to a major downgrade in the prognosis for Obamacare. First, Republicans won a majority of seats in the Senate, giving them control of both houses of Congress. Second, the Obama administration sharply lowered its estimate for how many people will enroll in Obamacare in 2015. Third and probably most important, the Supreme Court agreed to hear a sleeper legal case that could have devastating consequences for Obamacare if the justices side with the plaintiffs.

Isn't it true that even if the House and Senate vote to repeal the law - Obama will surely Veto it. When he does that, the Senate lacks the ability to override the veto - and so we're stuck with it.
At least until there's a GOP President and both houses are controlled by the GOP, yes? Which may not be for a long, long time.
All I do know, is that the ACA forces a lot of additional costs and expenses on businesses. Luckily for mine, we have the means to deal with it. But I work for a mid-size company. I know the ACA has killed or prevented jobs from being added and I know first hand that it has defined certain jobs differently.
I'd like to hear an "expert pundit" put odds on this law as to whether it will ultimately stick or not. I'm also not much of a handicapper, but I have a feeling we'll be stuck with this for a long time.

I agree with you. Unless we get a handful of Rats to jump ship to override his veto . . .
And with this Gruber guys videos . . . but the Hear No Evil Speak No Evil and See No Evil networks aren’t reporting it so the LIV won’t even know . . . probably not even care.
Maybe John Roberts will have grown a pair since last ruling?
Not holding my breath on any of it. I’d be dead by now IF I had over the past several years.
The fourth thing that may help kill it are the Jonathan Gruber statements elaborating on the “stupidity of the American people” and lack of transparency working in favor of the laws passage and implementation. If these incidents are given wider coverage (and I am not hopeful) more and more people will begin to comprehend that Obamacare is just a part of a very corrupt administration.
I’m becoming convinced that Gruber was correct in his “stupid” assessment.
We’ll see if Obamacare collapses due to citizen (does that word mean anything anymore) desires, or due to the fact that there’s no way it can be sustained?
Medicare is unconstitutional.
But then so is social security.
Oh well.
In those videos Gruber is also saying that Chief Justice Roberts is stupid because he bought the idea that it’s a tax after they had done triple backflips to keep the CBO from concluding the same thing.
Don’t think that will sit too well with Roberts this time around.
Similarity to Medicare.
Anybody hear of anyone forced to buy Medicare?.
This business of handing out “subsidies” (undoubtedly to those who are politically favored) is disgusting and totally un-American.
I doubt the Court would have agreed to take the case if they were not going to overturn it.
These are not just subsidies, these are "Tax Subsides" administered by the government to 'level the field' of income disparity.
After 32 illegal repair jobs done on ObamaCare, not included in the original legislation, I have quit counting the changes.
With this administration , I am tired of playing "Whack-a-Mole" with their Cloward-Piven agenda.
i am amazed tnat i read such a striaght forward neutral list with amazement. How often do you see msm put forth obvious, neutral points? I am sensing a shift in reporting.

That comment doesn't even make sense to me, because a good part of the outrage over Obamacare is that the voters did NOT pass it -- it was forced on them by Democrats, and only Democrats.
Maybe it makes more sense in context? If he's saying people were stupid for voting for Democrats, that at least would be logical....
One thing the smartest and the dumbest people people share is they don’t know when to shut up.

You know I thought the same thing. He specifically used the word “VOTERS”. Definitely a Freudian slip for the Goober, because he obviously knows there was an abundance of “non-transparency” and voters were duped from the beginning by electing Obama and company.
When SCOTUs kills it, Obama will have a whipping boy
He willbe free of the albatross and blameless
Aren’t the premiums set to take a big hike this coming year? I don’t see how anyone can afford it. Especially with those huge deductibles.
Am I missing something? Didn’t Justice Roberts rule that failure to comply to the ACA that the Administration could not “fine” but rather TAX the offending party.
I must be missing something, because there is not a law in the land that supports being TAXED for something not purchased. Especially, something one had no intention of ever purchasing.
Obama care is as empty as the ‘one’ ......
