On Tuesday, more than 17,000 additional votes were expected to be counted. But late Tuesday afternoon, after the Elections Division released a new update, the counting was not yet finished in Anchorage and Fairbanks. More than 10,000 additional votes had been counted by 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The update showed Dan Sullivan with 115,502 votes, and Begich with 106,718 votes, meaning Sullivans lead grew to 8,784 votes, or a 3.7 percent margin.
After election night, Sullivan led Begich by 8,149 votes, or 3.6 percent. Begich is hoping for a come-from-behind victory similar to his cliffhanger win over Republican Ted Stevens in 2008, when Begich dug out of an initial 3,000-vote hole to ultimately win by 4,000 votes.
In the governors race after Tuesday's update, Walker had 112,263 total votes to Parnells 109,244, giving Walker a 3,019-vote or 1.3 percent edge.
That was slightly lower than the count on election night, when Walker had a 1.4 percent lead -- a difference of 3,165 votes -- over Parnell.
An additional 30,000-plus votes must be counted after the full counting is done Tuesday. Also, there is still time for other mailed ballots to arrive. Ballots postmarked in the U.S. have through Friday to arrive. Those postmarked outside the U.S. have until Nov. 19 to arrive.
The uncertainty in tight races could drag on for some time, but the division hopes to certify the election Nov. 28, the day after Thanksgiving.

Begich needs to concede.
Not looking like Parnell has closed the gap enough.
This is commie ‘RAT BS. Everybody needs to vote the same day with paper ballots. If you want to “vote early” so they can count your vote one or two weeks after the election, tough. This counting long after the election is over only makes the environment right for voter fraud. “Provisional ballots” have got to go. They are the building blocks of voter fraud.
With 10,000 more votes counted AND a Sullivan net gain, I’d say the odds of a comeback are dramatically smaller than they were to begin with for BigItch.
Feelin’ good!
Walker/Carson 2016 @c0nservative23 3m3 minutes ago Corvallis, OR Begich should just concede. It's not a pres. Election year, so he's not gonna get the same number of rural votes as in 2008 #aksen 0 replies 0 retweets 0 favorites Reply Retweet Favorite More
David Freddoso @freddoso 4m4 minutes ago So if the number remaining is roughly 30,000, Begich would have to win the remaining ballots with about 65% to win. #AKSEN 0 replies 2 retweets 0 favorites Reply Retweet2 Favorite
Based on that, Sullivan received 50.2% of these additional ballots, Begish 44.2%, and the remaining candidates 5.6%. The latter is consistent with what occurred on Election Day. Just having those votes go to 3rd party candidates reduces the number from which Begish can win.
If there are 30,000 ballots to count, expect about 1,700 of those to go 3rd party. That would leave about 28,300 between Sullivan and Begish. Even if Sullivan received only 40% of the additional 30,000 ballots (well below his Election Day numbers and the additional 10,000 ballots today), we would still win by 3,500. 45% of the additional 30,000 ballots would yield a 6,000 vote win for Sullivan.

The Anchorage Daily News and alaska dispatch combined. I think his objections are to the Dispatch.
But ADN is a legitimate, lefty, paper.
