Ted Cruz Says Net Neutrality Is 'Obamacare For The Internet'
Business Insider ^ | 10 Nov 14 | Colin Campbell

Sen. Ted Cruz came out swinging after President Barack Obama wholeheartedly endorsed new internet regulations Monday morning.

Cruz, who is mulling a run for president in 2016, compared the entire concept of "net neutrality" — which posits internet companies should not be allowed to speed or slow down their services for certain users — to Obama's much-maligned healthcare reform.

'"Net Neutrality' is Obamacare for the Internet; the Internet should not operate at the speed of government," Cruz wrote on Twitter.

Cruz's spokeswoman, Amanda Carpenter, added that net neutrality would place the government "in charge of determining pricing, terms of service, and what products can be delivered. Sound like Obamacare much?"

I’d prefer to let the market work this one out.

If customers aren’t satisfied with the speed, they’ll go to providers who offer more speed.

Without the government, everything will eventually be faster.

With the government, we’ll soon have John Roberts deciding on the definition of ‘byte’.

Net neutrality is indeed the opposite of the market working anything out.

I just had a startling vision of a new “Government Oversight & Internet Content Approval Center”.

Cruz is the Conservative Rapid Reaction Team.

The GOPe will come out with a neutered statement about December 29th.

It’s still astonishing how many people on this site supports “net neutrality”.

I hope they have a better reason than “They’re from the government; they’re here to help us.”

Just what we need—more bureaucracy—meaning more new gov’t workers draining the public tit! Stop growing government, we’ve got all we need!

As usual Cruz is the first out the gate, pointing out big government intrusions into the private sector, others have to ponder their position and its political effects on their political future.

Cruz has no problem taking a position, does it meet the requirements of a constitutional free republic; load, aim, fire, reload.

The GOPe is done. As much so as the dems and Obama

And they all know the internet is their problem. As much as Ted Cruz knows it, and, BTW, uses it.

This has nothing to do with anything other than just duh! Obama’s reaction to the routing he got last week

Peopole think he’s serious in his public reaction?

No.

He’s pissed as are his dem democrats.

This is a lash out.

the GOPe would like to retain power by getting rid of the internet, as well

Let’s not forget what happened last week, and what it means.

Many of the people who won have energy - not like Graham, who handed over Clinton’s impeachment in a very wimpy manner, and that was many years ago.

He’s not young and energetic even to that extent any more

Those with energy and access to the tools of the internet are moving in fast.

That’s what this is about.

But the GOPe is out.

We’ve had enough of their lack of character and testosterone, and they cannot win anything with it. they never could.

They hated Reagan, coddled the over funded Bushes, and lost everything else - even the second elder Bush election.

They are done.

As of last week.

MHO

anything and everything the obozo proposes is and will be bad for liberty and freedom for you and me and will cost individuals more than they can afford. He is demonstrably and without question the enemy within.

With early public statements on issues like Net Neutrality and deportation, immigration and Attorney General confirmation, Ted Cruz is the acting Senate Majority Leader. He doesn't need or want the title.

"Net neutrality" indeed! Bastardize the language enough and you can make a phrase mean anything you want it to mean

If you want to benefit from the fruits of other people's labor, you have to pay for it. What's next? Free yachts for those not rich enough to buy their own? Sheesh! When the Left says "fair", what they really mean is that you and I get to contribute to their favorite politician's re-election efforts.

Political wordsmithing the American populace is like shooting fish in a barrel. The passage of any legislation in this country relies on deception in title, laziness of media scrutiny, sound bite brains of the masses, and bribery to legislators valued proportionately to the level of deceit.

Okay. And some Internet providers have gotten .gov protection in the form of almost monopolies.

Also, in some cities and localities have provided or put into service broadband that is faster and cheaper than private enterprise. And, those such private markets want to or have banned such competition.
