Put a man in uniform, preferably a white man, give him a gun, and Americans will worship him. It is a particularly childish trait, of a childlike culture, that insists on anointing all active military members and police officers as heroes.

Maybe we should have a brief moratorium on posting things from that site.....say...ten years or so.
A petulant, childish statement in and of itself.
He probably thinks heroes go to Africa, get Ebola, come back to go bowling, then strum banjos in hospital.
Wait I thought we put black men in uniform. And killed them.
Petulant, girly man, author. It must suck to be a liberal..
Good red meat for the FReeper Canteen staff. Have at it.
Soldiers protecting Democracy so Salon has the freedom to smear them.
He has charisma! http://davidmasciotra.com/biography/
Quotation by George Orwell: Men sleep peacefully in their beds at night because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

I can only imagine who his heroes are .
His buddies at the circle jerk
Ah, the stupid is particularly striong in Salon today.
Perhaps due to global warming or the peace that is Islam.
This is really sick. Shows what we’re up against.
What do we think of a man wearing a dress?
I don’t recall anyone worshipping Kerry although the man himself tried to make that happen.
I recall that when Patreus was heading to the capital to report to congress how the war was going, he was mocked and ridiculed and called “General Betray-us.” Pelosi et. al. never apologized for their disgraceful behavior. So I am shocked to hera that Salon thinks the US is naturally excessively worshipful of soldiers - at a time when I thought members of the military seldom get the recognition they deserve.
In a perfect world he would be dropped in to Raqaa and be left behind by those he refuses to “worship”..
Totally agree. For every Salon Post I take $1 off of my donation!!
Actually, I agree with him to a certain extent. The word “hero” is given to anyone who does something out of the ordinary today. Not every soldier in battle is a hero. Not every cop in a patrol car is a hero. Not every fireman who puts out a fire is a hero.
Even the guy who stops a purse thief is not a hero.
There are few true heroes in this world. Most people who do the right thing don’t want to be called heroes. It’s nice to acknowledge their deeds but the term hero has been watered down to the point where teachers are being called heroes
