Imagine mine when I lived over there for years and lectured at various universities in England, Scotland and Wales and each student knew more about the US than I did. . .they all KNEW everything there was to know because they read the Guardian and watched Jerry Springer. . .the more ‘enlightened’ ones watched the BBC. . .

Sheesh...If he’s insinuating a Muslim, why not call Britian a Caliphate and just be done with it? I am hoping he is suggesting that this “British Asian” has loyalty to Britian and not where their ancestry in Asia may lie.
I may be late to the conversation but the last time I was in England and was speaking to my cousin Asian equaled Pakistani/Indian no matter what religious stripe. Anyone of Chinese or similar decent was considered Oriental.
It makes for some confusion as in Australia essentially anyone with Chinese type features is called Asian while we call those from the Sub-continent by their country of origin!
No, you suggested it. Just because I don’t go along with that people (3000m away who know little and never visit) here say about the UK, and as an actual Brit, try and correct myths and errors about my country, does NOT make some sort of dhimmi or muslim apologist. Anymore than my deep dislike of Obama makes me a racist.
I don’t like Cameron, and I wont be voting Tory in 2015, but the man was referring to British Asians in general, not just Muslims. There is a tendency here on FR and in the US to read anything UK Asian as Muslim. And usually OTT as well. Hence the hysteria that the UK is about a week away from Islamic conquest.
I think the PC folks in Britain know damn well why they decided to use the term “Asian.”

It may indeed be a nod and a wink - more than likely though he is desperate to get a new voting block no matter where they are from as he is losing traditional conservative voters to UKIP!
