Republicans David Perdue and Gov. Nathan Deal each won more than 40 percent of the Hispanic vote on their way to victory Tuesday despite staking out get-tough positions on illegal immigration, a new report shows.

The Pew Research Center report shows Perdue defeated Democrat Michelle Nunn for his Senate seat with 42 percent of the Hispanic vote and 53 percent of the overall vote. Deal turned back a challenge from Democrat Jason Carter with 47 percent of the Hispanic vote and 53 percent of the overall vote.

In exit poll surveys, Latino voters ranked the economy as the most important issue facing the nation followed by healthcare and then illegal immigration.

They’re figuring out quickly that the Dem program is toxic.

Someone needs to slap Paul Ryan in the head with this, but I think his skull is impenetrable.

I can’t imagine why Hispanics with legal American citizenship would want amnesty. It would be a slap in the face to anybody that came to this country legally to have others get the same rights because they just walked in. All legal citizens of Hispanic ancestry should be voting in support of immigration reform and control.

Hispanic and Black citizens would bear a huge portion of the cost of relaxed immigration. The GOP needs to stake out a place on immigration that favors and protects the citizen first in regard to illegal and legal immigration. Citizens should be able to sue companies that replace them with foreign or illegal labor and collect damages.

Legal Hispanics have just as much at stake as the rest of us. They are natural allies if approached correctly.

I don’t think “despite” is the proper word. Spanish language origin citizens can be just as concerned about a flood of illegals competing for their jobs as other people.

It CAN be done, it just requires you dont automatically cede them to the rats, and you are unafraid to take social issues and economic issues to them.

If our candidate gets something close to that in 2016, we will win handily!

They don’t. Last year I was talking with two legal immigrant naturalized citizens and they absolutely hate the idea of amnesty.

Agreed.

Pretty sure Hispanics did not leave conditions in their home countries to embrace the American Dream only to turn around and support those who would transform America into the conditions they left.

I have family and friends who have emigrated here, some from Central America, and all are AGAINST ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.

However, all came legally.

The political class who self-identify as "progressives" may discover that Hispanic citizens who came through the legal immigration process learned about and understand their Constitution's protections.

Unlike other minority citizens who have been imprisoned in government school systems where curriculum was controlled by "progressive" educators who censored out the Founders' ideas from textbooks and classroom discussion, these citizens recognize attempts to control them and their precious right to choose individual freedom over bondage to power-seeking ideologues who disguise themselves as "progressives," while advocating policies that are regressive and oppressive.

"...there have always been those who wish to enlarge the powers of the General Government. There is but one safe rule...confine (it) within the sphere of its appropriate duties. It has no power to raise a revenue or impose taxes except for the purposes enumerated in the Constitution....Every attempt to exercise power beyond these limits should be promptly and firmly opposed." - Andrew Jackson's Valedictory

"...experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms (of government), those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny; and it is believed that the most effectual means of preventing this would be, to illuminate...the minds of the people...to give them knowledge of those facts, which history exhibiteth. History, by apprizing them of the past, will enable them to judge of the future...it will qualify them as judges of the actions and designs of men; it will enable them to know ambition under every disguise it may assume; and knowing it, to defeat its views...." - Jefferson's Bill for the more general diffusion of knowledge for Virginia

"Although all men are born free, slavery has been the general lot of the human race. Ignorant--they have been cheated; asleep--they have been surprised; divided--the yoke has been forced upon them. But what is the lesson?...the people ought to be enlightened, to be awakened, to be united, that after establishing a government they should watch over it....It is universally admitted that a well-instructed people alone can be permanently free." - James Madison

"These principles form the bright constellation which has gone before us and guided our steps through an age of revolution and reformation. The wisdom of our sages and the blood of our heroes have been devoted to their attainment. They should be the creed of our political faith, the text of civic instruction, the touchstone by which to try the services of those we trust; and should we wander from them in moments of error or of alarm, let us hasten to retrace our steps and to regain the road which alone leads to peace, liberty, and safety." - Thomas Jefferson-First Inaugural Statement of Principles of Good Government

The more people who learn English and what the Constitution says, the more people will vote conservative. Also, the Catholic church needs to explain the sin of voting for a person who is joined in the human sacrifice movement.

Looks like Hispanics aren’t willing to sell out their vote for generations to come based upon some lie the Democrat Party tells them. Obviously, they know to keep their options open to vote in their own best interest as circumstances dictate.

Then that is where we need to focus some of our work. We need to hammer home to the LEGAL immigrants of this country that we are not against immigration. We need to hammer home that we welcome immigrants that come here the right way and we need to fix the immigration system to allow them to come here the right way. The right way is through background checks, etc. and other common sense measures. We need to hammer home that illegal immigrants are taking THEIR jobs too, causing crime rates to sky rocket, causing infectious diseases, etc. Their kids die the same as ours from infectious diseases and crime.

This is what true immigration reform is and the first thing that has to happen is to leak proof the border, whatever it takes!
