Arrowhead (John) fell off a 20 ladder at work, onto his head, and has a severe brain injury!
Broke all the bones in his face and skull, broke his shoulder blade and some ribs.
His last post was 10/20 in the morning. He fell about 2pm that same day and was LifeFlighted to the hospital; then, after about 6 hours of surgery, he went directly to ICU. It was touch and go for days in critical condition.
After 2 weeks in ICU he has been transferred to a Specialty Neurological Rehab center in Austin, as of 11/3.
He can move his arms and legs, so no spinal injury, but he is not cognizant. Sometimes he can respond to can you squeeze my hand?, sometimes not. His daughter is getting ready to go back home.
The nurses are calling them every day. Small improvements are noticed, such as he sat up for 10 seconds today, but no one has a prognosis. Brain injuries heal how they heal, when the heal, if they heal....3 to 6 months at least.
PRAY HARD, please!!!! And spread the word to your prayer lists.
Visiting Dad right now, I am down in Austin for the weekend. Mom and I are going to take him out for a drive through the wildflowers this afternoon.
Mom and I talk about you and the FReepers a lot!!
Have a wonderful Sunday,
Lisa

Good afternoon Kathy,
I wanted to send an update about Dad's progress and his move. In late February, he finally made it back to CORE Healthcare to receive his final month of rehab there - which was excellent news! The staff was very happy to have him back, and he continued to do Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy again...perhaps not at the level that he was at before his hospitalization, but the best that he could. His swallowing abilities are getting a bit stronger Im told, but he is still on a feeding tube for his daily meals. He was very recently moved from the CORE facility in Dripping Springs, TX to The Cottages at Chandler Creek in Round Rock, TX. The contact information for the facility is below:
The Cottages at Chandler Creek
(The North Cottage)
2401 North AW Grimes Boulevard
Round Rock, Texas 78665
Dad is in Room 16. Some have inquired about sending him mail - the address above is fine for mailing, though the staff has asked us to include "attn: John Sxxxxxxxx" on the envelope.
(I don't feel right about posting his real name. FReempmail me if you need it.) Mom really wanted me to pass on a special Thank You to you for sending the cards and mementos that you have. She shows him the things you send and says, this is from xxxxx, your FReeper friend" and he definitely knows who you are. Thank you SO much for being so kind. Please let me know if you have any other questions, and have a wonderful weekend ahead.

Welcome!
Prayers are surely offered for Arrowhead.
Prayers for our friend
will continue to pray for him.
I'm a Recovering TBI Victim TOO.
Kathy;Lisa:
Thanks so much for this update on John.
Freeper Friends—private email Kathy for John’s address-a card from you would mean so much to him and it helps him in his recovery.
And pray too—for John and his family—his accident was 18 months ago.
Thanks so much!
Continued prayers.
Lord Jesus, hear our prayers for Thy servant John.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost,
Amen.
BTTT
We love to know your Dad is greatly improved. God bless, prayers continue.
Thank you Kathy.
SandRat, thanks for the post but I am not a family member of Arrowhead. I posted this originally just to get the information started but KathyinAlaska receives the updates from his daughter Lisa and is keeping us all updated. I’m sure she will see your post though - thank you for the information.
I was thinking of him the other day and how he must be missing his garden. Hugs.
Thanks, Sand....I emailed your post to Lisa, his daughter.
