... What Harwood and the rest of the folks who rely solely on Washingtons mainstream thinkers and Wall Street boosters for their information dont realize is this: The economy isnt really doing what the statistics say it is doing.
Our nations economic statistics are nipped and tucked, massaged, managed, fabricated and dolled up.
In short, our statistics are wrong and Main Street folks know it.

Having seen some of the data manipulations it is clear that actual unemployment is double or more, and that a majority of jobs being created in most states pay half or less than what the unemployed individual was originally making
Had to laugh at Obama’s claim yesterday that our economy is about the strongest in the world right now - true, mainly becasue the rest of the world is pretty much in the dumpster, especially Europe whiach has about a fifty year headstart on the redistribute-the-wealth policies Obama is trying to impose on us......
Those are probably the same FReepers that insisted the economy was in PERFECT shape back during the later part of 2007... ROFL!
Everyone that voiced obvious concerns was either a “doom and gloomer”, an “idiot”, or whatever...
I wish I’d bookmarked their posts. LOL
I can’t think of anyone that I know who lives better than they did when they were kids growing up. Everyone seems to have less money, smaller houses, worse jobs and more economic stress. Closet Marxist Democrats have slowly eaten away at the middle class.

There is a very simple solution.
It is truly, very simple.
Unfortunately, neither party seems to want it to happen.
What is the answer: HIRE MORE AMERICANS, FOR JOBS HERE.
Stop buying everything imported.
Wall Street and Washington DC are having boom times but at the ground troop level the only thing we see growing in this economy are prices of the things we need to sustain life.
What growth? Feds are counting government handouts in GDP and it’s still less than in 2008.
I’ll be they’re counting being on welfare as a job.
I live in Texas and things are much better here than many other places in the country.....my family and those around us feel the pinch of a sluggish economy.
Stagnant wages, food inflation, fuel until recently, property taxes up, insurance rates (medical, home, auto) are up.
I cannot even imagine what others are going through.
I can’t wait to see the new health plan rates for 2015 which were held back till after the election.
Yep. Pretty much what you said.
What part of Texas are you in? El Paso?
We’ve seen wages go up, fuel down and property taxes actually went down. Everyone we know around us, is doing great...thanks to the Texas economy. I’m interested to know what part of Texas is “sluggish”. Thanks.
Maybe these 2015 health plan rates will be the first nail in 0bolaCare’s coffin.
Govt statistics are junk! Nothing coming outta Washington has an ounce of legitimacy any more. Plus, I don’t need the govt or any stats to tell me the economy has been in big big trouble for quite some time.
Montgomery county. Harris and Montgomery counties realized huge tax increases this year. I work for a fortune 50 corporation and they’ve cut benefits to the bone and held wages stagnant for five years now.
If you’ve not gone to the store and noticed food prices up by at least 20%, you’re not the one doing the shopping.
As I mentioned, Texas is doing well, but certain sectors still struggle. Oil industry, until very recent has been booming.
My guess is Houston (ghetto central), Austin (insanity central) or San Antonio (Castro central) or one of the other Progressive bastions.
I like what Buckner has to say.
I saw him on TV once, and he said that people he’s consulted for are ready to jump ship from the US almost on a moment’s notice. I just, well, believed him.
You can’t hire people for jobs that don’t exist.
stats haven’t been accurate in decades, but much worse recently
