I heard minimum 13% increases across the board: premiums, co-pays, deductibles. Is that what you are hearing?

And that’s not counting the scheduled increases in taxes and penalties.

We needed to start that campaign today. We are already late if it’s going to happen at all. Sounds like some FReepers are buying into his “we can all get along” BS.

He talked about energy and not only the Keystone Pipeline. He talked about tax reform. He talked about strategies dealing with ObamaCare. He talked about trade.

The problem with "getting things done" for the next two years is the presidential veto, as several have discussed. Most of what can be done will be blocking Obama with budgetary restriction and other tactics. Republicans might get a few good things past Obama (maybe the Keystone pipeline), but they'll mostly have to block him and set things up to win the presidency in 2016.

If they get much done before 2017, it's likely to be something Republican voters did not want.

No way! You are not big on strategy are you? ; )

1. The Executive Branch has the Veto Pen when dealing with a Legislative Branch from the Enemy Camp.

2. The Legislative Branch has to get around The Executive Branch's Veto Pen when the POTUS is from the enemy camp.

We live in interesting times.

I’d love to see Jeff Sessions challenge McConnell. He won re-election in Alabama last night without Democrat opposition. Consistently ranks among the five most conservative members in the Senate and has fought the Obama Administration tooth and nail on amnesty and other issues.

Of course, there is a great irony in Jeff Sessions being a member of the U.S. Senate. His career ambition was to be a federal judge and he was nominated to the federal bench by Ronaldus Magnus in 1986. His nomination was rejected by the Senate Judiciary Committee, led by the usual suspects, Joe Biden and Arlen Specter. So, he ran successfully for Alabama Attorney General and in 1996, the U.S. Senate. Session wound up serving on the Judiciary Committee with some of the same Senators who rejected his nomination for the federal bench.

Pretty much the same routine as after 2004 when Clinton was in office.

**I agree & we need to be very loud & clear that this is not a “can we all get along” mandate. Stop Obama in his tracks! & no playing nice with Reid.

Kentuckians are not stupid

As a Kentuckian I can tell you there are PLENTY of stupid people here.

The KY House has been Democrat since the 1920s. Yesterday, Kentucky kept it that way.

In my rural area, nearly every D won his local race despite excellent Conservatives running in opposition.

So yes, Kentuckians can be stupid, low information voters that vote Democrat because their daddies did.

The Executive Branch has the veto pen...we have the power of the purse.

We can defund his programs piece by piece.

He only knows the kind of compromise when others give in to him.

I don't know. I'm thinking you can overcome a Veto for the medical device tax, assuming it is a stand alone bill. I'm thinking you can overcome a Veto the 2018 Cadillac Tax if it is a stand alone bill. I am thinking that you can overcome a Veto of the Individual Mandate. It depends how you set up the bills sent to the POTUS.

You may well be able to overcome a veto on Keystone as well because the unions are in favor of it.

McConnell knows his legislative stuff. Will be interesting to watch the process.

In terms of confirmations, McConnell can deep six any Obama nominee he doesn't like.

Look for Reid to ram as many through as he can between now and January.
